Job Description

Saint Joseph Catholic School is seeking a qualified and credentialed math teacher for our middle school. Celebrating its 100th year of operation, St. Joe's private school offers a unique teaching experience with dedicated staff colleagues and parents wholly committed to providing our children a rigorous academic and spiritual education. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

The duties of the Middle School Mathematics Teacher will include but are not limited to:

- Teach 5 classes, with 4 of them at smaller teacher/student ratios for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade level math.

- Teach a 2-track math system starting in 7th grade.

- 7th grade accelerated course - 7th grade math & 8th grade level math.

- 8th grade accelerated course - Algebra 1.

- One recitation per week per class to intentionally differentiate remediation or extensions.

- One planning period per day.

OTHER DUTIES:

- Obtain and maintain state licensure.

- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents/guardians and colleagues.

- Provide grade appropriate extended or enrichment opportunities for students when you identify a desire from the student, or when requested from parents.

- Attend and participate with the principal and staff members in school-related meetings, activities, and projects.

- Participate in all Archdiocese of Denver in-service and training programs. Participate in all local school-sponsored professional development and training programs and initiatives.

- Participate in annual performance review, based upon the implementation of the essential duties of the middle school math teacher.

Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

- Minimum - Bachelor's degree with 1 year of teaching experience and completion of the math PRAXIS.

- Preferred - Bachelor's degree in Math or secondary math endorsement. Three years teaching experience.

- Requires appropriate state licensure for teaching.

- Compliance with Safe Environment requirements.

COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

- Sound judgment and decision-making skills.

- Effective verbal and written communication skills.

- Knowledge of and willingness to implement safety and emergency procedures

- Catholic in good standing preferred but not required.

- Candidate must share Christian virtues & values and exercise them through words and deeds.

- Successfully pass a criminal background check.

- Disclosure of any circumstances or negative work reviews that were cause for termination or reassignment at previous employers.

- Positive references and recommendations required.

- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.

- Ability to execute appropriate safety and emergency procedures, including leading evacuations and providing basic first aid.

Salaries for teachers are calculated based on the teacher salary scale from the Archdiocese of Denver Office of Catholic Schools, which takes into account years of experience and educational qualifications.
