Job Description
Purpose of Job:Appointed by the Principal, the Teacher-Minister's primary duty is to teach, tutor, instruct, or lecture in the activity of imparting knowledge of the respective academic area(s) to the students under his/her care, providing leadership and vision and ensuring superior quality in the respective programs toward attainment of the school's mission. The Teacher-Minister upholds and models a moral code consistent with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and the mission of the school.
Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
1. Serves as a role model of faith and service for students.
2. Contributes to fulfilling the school's mission both within the school and the larger community.
3. Demonstrates professionalism in communication, dress, punctual attendance, availability to students and parents after class and dismissal.
4. Maintains appropriate Diocesan Certifications.
5. Develops goals for professional growth and uses feedback to improve.
6. Demonstrates interest and involvement in school and students.
7. Communicates with parents and students in a timely manner regarding emails, phone calls, homework and grades posting.
8. Aligns lesson plans to Catholic values and Diocesan Standards.
9. Plans class lessons as part of comprehensive unit plans.
10. Incorporates research-based assignments/practices and rubrics for evaluation of student performance.
11. Incorporates a variety of assessment types to determine student learning, growth, and mastery and uses student performance data to plan for instruction.
12. Integrates technology as a teaching and learning tool.
13. Participates in professional learning communities to collaborate in cross-curricular and cross-grade level planning.
14. Creates an environment true to the mission of Catholic education.
15. Creates an environment of respect conducive to positive learning environment for diverse needs of students.
16. Manages student behavior using appropriate, effective classroom procedures, rules, and consequences.
17. Incorporates Catholic values and teachings into instructional practices.
18. Communicates, displays, and reinforces the learning target for lesson and unit goals.
19. Demonstrates knowledge and enthusiasm of the subject matter being taught.
20. Uses evidence-based methods of differentiating instruction to engage all learners.
21. Uses appropriate and challenging pace of instruction.
22. Checks for understanding by all students prior to and frequently throughout instruction and reteaches or adjusts as needed.
23. Analyzes student learning through a variety of assessments.
24. Any and all other duties required or assigned to ensure the successful operation of the school
Evaluation:
The Principal will evaluate the Teacher-Minister each year. The evaluation will be based on diocesan policy and the duties and responsibilities listed above. Information for the evaluation will be gathered by the administration of the Catholic School.
Minimum Qualifications for Applicants:
The Teacher-Minister will be a dynamic, energetic leader who displays professionalism and facilitates learning, growth, and collaboration both inside and outside the classroom. The Teacher-Minister will demonstrate analytical, problem solving, and communication skills (both verbal and written) to provide timely and appropriate customer service. The Teacher-Minister is dependable and punctual, manages emotions, maintains confidentiality and is open to constructive criticism. The Teacher-Minister cultivates a team environment that is free from harassment and discrimination. The Teacher-Minister must be open to new ideas and able to effectively implement school and diocesan policies and programs that further the school's mission.
The Teacher-Minister must live and act in their personal life and professional role in agreement to the moral and ethical teachings of the Catholic Church and maintain catechetical certification in accordance with diocesan policy.
