Job Description

Headmaster

Holy Angels Academy
Louisville, Kentucky
PS-12 Catholic Classical School

Holy Angels Academy is a vibrant and faithful Catholic community dedicated to the spiritual, intellectual, and personal formation of its students. The Academy educates and forms young people through Catholic schooling in the classical tradition, preparing them to lead holy and honorable lives in service to God and country, and ultimately to attain the end for which they were created: eternal happiness with God.

Holy Angels Academy seeks a devout, mission-driven Headmaster to serve as the chief administrator, academic leader, and spiritual steward of its Pre-School through Grade 12 community. Reporting to and working in close partnership with the Board of Trustees, the Headmaster is responsible for ensuring fidelity to the Academy's mission across all grade levels and for providing leadership in all aspects of school life, including Catholic identity, academics, faculty and staff development, student formation, enrollment, operations, advancement, and long-term sustainability.

This role calls for a practicing Catholic who lives the faith authentically and leads by example, inspiring students, faculty, families, and the broader community through joyful witness, sound judgment, and faithful leadership. The Headmaster serves as the visible spiritual leader of the school, ensuring that curricula, programs, policies, and communications are aligned with the teachings of the Catholic Church and the mission of Holy Angels Academy. In collaboration with chaplains and clergy, the Headmaster oversees the sacramental and liturgical life of the school and integrates Catholic principles into every aspect of school culture.

As academic leader, the Headmaster oversees the development and implementation of a rigorous classical academic program that fosters human flourishing. The Headmaster recruits, hires, evaluates, and retains mission-aligned faculty and staff committed to excellence in Catholic education, and leads ongoing professional formation that integrates sound pedagogy with Catholic educational philosophy in the classical tradition.

Student formation-spiritual, moral, intellectual, and emotional-remains central to the life of the Academy. The Headmaster promotes a disciplined, joyful, and respectful environment reflective of Catholic virtue and the dignity of the human person, and supports co-curricular and extracurricular programs that encourage leadership, service, and character development.

In partnership with the Board of Trustees, the Headmaster directs the day-to-day operations of the Academy in alignment with strategic priorities and Board policies. The Headmaster supervises administrative leadership, faculty, and staff; ensures compliance with accreditation standards and applicable laws and regulations; and manages school resources prudently and transparently to support financial sustainability and long-term growth.

The Headmaster also serves as the primary ambassador of Holy Angels Academy to prospective families, alumni, donors, and the wider Catholic community. This includes supporting enrollment strategies, strengthening a culture of stewardship and philanthropy, and building strong relationships with parents, Catholic organizations and apostolates, and community partners.

Qualified candidates will be devout, practicing Catholics in full communion with the Catholic Church, committed to living and promoting the mission of Holy Angels Academy. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to lead faculty and staff across a comprehensive PS-12 educational environment and possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and pastoral leadership skills. A master's degree or higher in education, educational leadership, theology, or a related field is required. Prior experience in Catholic school leadership and background in classical or liberal arts education are preferred.

Holy Angels Academy offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package commensurate with experience, including a healthcare cost reimbursement program, tuition remission for eligible dependents, incentive-based bonus opportunities, generous paid leave, and professional development support.

Holy Angels Academy is a Catholic educational institution faithful to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. All employees are expected to be effective witnesses who, by word and deed, support the teachings of the Catholic Church and respect the Academy's distinct Catholic identity. The Headmaster must be willing to make a public Profession of Faith and take an annual Oath of Fidelity.

Holy Angels Academy values equal opportunity for members of all races, cultures, and ethnicities and prohibits discrimination based on race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability, while reserving the rights afforded to religious institutions under applicable law with respect to religious employment practices.

To apply or to learn more about this opportunity, interested candidates are invited to contact Michael Furey at ACELA Solutions. Additional information, including the position statement and application instructions, is available at www.acelasolutions.com under Current Searches.

Applicants should be prepared to submit a letter of interest describing their interest in the position and how their Catholic faith informs their educational leadership, a resume or curriculum vitae, a statement of educational philosophy and vision for Catholic PS-12 education, and contact information for three relevant and recent professional references.
