Job Description

Full-Time Music Teacher Duties

Instruction

* Teach general music classes for students in PreK-8.
* Develop engaging lesson plans aligned with state standards and the school's curriculum.
* Teach music theory, rhythm, singing, movement, listening skills, and appreciation of various musical styles.
* Introduce students to liturgical and sacred music.
* Assess student progress and provide report card grades and comments.
* Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.

Liturgical & Faith Leadership

* Plan and lead music for school Masses, prayer services, and other liturgical celebrations.
* Teach students appropriate liturgical hymns and responses.
* Collaborate with the principal, pastor, and religion teachers to prepare for the liturgical year (Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, Holy Days, etc.).

Performance Responsibilities

* Direct school concerts (Christmas, Spring Concert, Talent Show, etc.).
* Prepare students for special performances at school and parish events.
* Organize and direct school choir, if applicable.
* Coordinate rehearsals and performance schedules.

Classroom Management
* Maintain a positive, respectful classroom environment.
* Organize and maintain the music room.

Collaboration

* Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, specials teachers, and administration.
* Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and performances.
* Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school committees.
