Job Description

Are you an educator committed to growth and collaborative collegiality? Are you eager to teach in a school dedicated to supporting strong academic and community-oriented student habits without the technological and behavioral distractions common in other schools? Consider joining our joyful school community.

An independent school for girls in grades 6-12, guided by the teachings of the Catholic Church and the spirituality of Opus Dei, Oakcrest School was founded in 1976 and is located in Vienna, Virginia, 17 miles west of Washington, D.C. Oakcrest students come from all over the DMV, and our students and families as well as our faculty and staff are noted for their deep commitment to the school's mission.

Oakcrest School seeks a full-time, experienced teacher of Science with a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or physics to join our professional learning community beginning August 2025. A successful candidate will appreciate that science is grounded in the experience of wonder at the world around us, seek to instill in the students the art of questioning, the principles of observation, and the precision of thought, and understand how science fits integrally into a liberal arts education. We seek teachers who are passionate about their subjects, committed to being involved in the life of the school as a mentor, club facilitator, or coach, and committed to collaboration and ongoing growth in their professional practice. Strong applicants will have an advanced science degree, at least three years of classroom experience, and an appreciation for an independent school environment and an all-girls' education. Qualified applicants should send a cover letter, statement of teaching philosophy, resume, and a list of at least three current professional references to: employment@oakcrest.org with "Science position" in the subject line of the email.
