Full Time English Teacher Grades 9-12 for the 2026-2027 School Year
St. Edmund Preparatory High School has a vacancy in the English department starting in September 2026.
St. Edmund Preparatory High School is a Catholic co-ed, IB World, college preparatory school located in Brooklyn, NY. We offer a rigorous college prep curriculum that focuses on the Next Generation English Language Arts Learning Standards.
Our mission is to instill the Gospel values in our students so as to empower them to become confident and self-disciplined participants in the ever-changing global society. We educate according to the needs of each student and challenge each of them to achieve academic excellence through practical learning experiences.
Our ideal candidate would have a teaching degree and New York State license as well as a background in high school level English. Candidates should have knowledge of basic pedagogy and lesson planning.
Responsibilities and Duties
• Provide clear and consistently high-quality English instruction for all students
• Create instructional lesson plans and activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in a meaningful learning experience
• Implement instructional strategies and resources that are aligned with rigor of Next Generation Standards to meet the needs of all students, including those with varying learning styles
• Guide students in preparing to be successful on NYS regents exams
• Working collaboratively with other English faculty to foster an environment of bold learning
• Create a positive classroom environment that is engaging and fosters student growth
• Display a commitment to diversity and create a culture of equity, inclusion, and belonging in approach to teaching and learning

Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in related field
• NYS teaching certification in English 7-12 or currently working towards certification
