Job Description
Leave-Replacement for High School Guidance CounselorSt. Edmund Preparatory High School has a leave replacement vacancy in the Guidance Counseling department for a full time Counselor, effective immediately. The position is a maternity leave position that would begin as soon as possible for part-time training. Training will cease on November 24th, at which time the candidate will transition to a full time Guidance counselor through May.
St. Edmund Preparatory High School is a Catholic co-ed, IB World, college preparatory school located in Brooklyn, NY that offers a rigorous college prep curriculum, a large athletic and extracurricular program in a vibrant community of faith.

Job responsibilities
Facilitate in the implantation of programs that strive to have an impact on student growth in three domain areas: career development, academic development, and social/emotional development.
Prepare for and teach group guidance classes.
Meet with students at risk academically and communicate with both administration and teachers to help students strive to be their very best in the classroom setting
Review all transcripts for accuracy and keep track of all graduation and credit requirements for each student.
Meet with each student individually to review and submit their courses for the next school year.
Co-facilitate the placement exam for incoming freshmen with administration.
Serve as a first line of defense in identifying and addressing social/emotional needs within our student
Create an environment that produces engagement vital to students' social/emotional development
Provide individual counseling for students with mental health and emotional issues and refer them to the appropriate counseling agencies as necessary.
Promote inclusivity, equity and access to all students.
Education and Experience
Education: Master's in School Counseling.
Experience: Experience in a school setting preferred. Knowledge of behavioral strategies, SEL and facilitation of individual and group counseling sessions.
Qualifications: Excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills. NYSED Certification as School Counselor.
