Job Title: Member Services Steward - Remote role, minimum 25 hrs/wk, flexibility required
A. Position Summary:
The Consortium's Member Services Steward (MSS) is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management and administration of the Consortium of Catholic Foundations; a nearly five year old, national Member chief executives peer community. The Consortium is dedicated to strengthening the executive leadership of Catholic community foundations to foster peer-to-peer best practice sharing, financial growth, and sustainable Church and regional community ministry resources, across the national sector.
The MSS will both 1.) lead the development and implementation of all Member-facing programs, services, experiences, and resources that directly respond to the requests on behalf of all Members as deemed strategic priorities by the "governing group," the Consortium Steering Committee; and, 2.) serve as the Administrator of the website and the Members-only tech platform, managing its daily functionality.
This role serves as the "backbone" to the Consortium Member peer community to ensure its continued growth, Member engagement and value-added services, while inspiring sponsors to contribute essential contributions to help underwrite current and sustain future Consortium operations and the annual CEO Symposium.
This flexible, remote position involves working a minimum of 25 hrs per week, serving the Executive Committee, the Steering Committee, 60 current Members, and cultivating an active pool of 18+ prospective members, past, current and future sponsors, paid consultants, and other external stakeholders and partners to collectively drive awareness, financial growth and sustainability, and Member best practice sharing across the national Catholic community foundation executive leadership network.
B. Key Responsibilities:
Steering Committee (SC) & Executive Committee (EC) governance support
Member development, engagement & services Delivery
Annual resource development & management
Technology administration
Annual Member CEO Symposium event design & delivery
C. Work Considerations:
Remote, independent contractor/consultant status- 1099 contract only
Minimum of 25 hours per week, requiring flexibility for additional hours when required
Annual contract with optional renewal; negotiated fee
Reports to the Executive Committee of the Consortium Steering Committee, submits to annual performance review
Target compensation, based on experience: $~70,000, annually, paid monthly
Utilizes own equipment, received reimbursement of approved expenses
No healthcare nor fringe benefits
Paid time off, equivalent to up to four weeks, per year
Occasional travel required: planning the annual CEO Symposium, the annual Summer strategic planning meeting, and/or Member events
D. Applicant Qualities & Role Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in community foundation philanthropy, customer service, nonprofit management, business, or a related field.
Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in foundation management, philanthropic nonprofit leadership, Catholic church management, the community foundation or business.
Practicing Catholic with strong knowledge of and support for the Catholic Church, community foundations, philanthropy, and/or nonprofits. Evidence of a clear statement of belief in and commitment to the Catholic faith, its teachings and practices; with role actions aligned consistently to the Catholic faith.
Evidence of customer/client service delivery and best practices, with a demonstrated ability to lead a member-based community and drive and retain member growth and sustainable engagement.
Strong understanding of and ability to use various technologies and software relevant to the role. Ability to apply those skills to specific tasks of the role and achieve desired outcomes of serving as the sole administrator of the Members-only tech platform.
Exceptional oral communications, public speaking, design, writing, and editing skills.
Proven ability to fundraise and develop partnerships with leadership and corporate sponsors.
Experience working with a Steering Committee and comprehensive understanding of governance processes and best practices.
Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into creating actionable plans. Demonstrated ability to implement plans, particularly those details and designs of the steering committee, and consistently follow-up, provide responsiveness.
Evidence of strong relationship-building and customer-service skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a wide range of stakeholders in a manner that retains their loyalty to and engagement with the Consortium. Knows how to build relationships and connect with others.
High level of confidentiality, integrity, accountability, professionalism and humility - it is all about God and our Members' perceived and lived value in their Consortium community experience.
Exhibits curiosity, openness, inquisitiveness, remains flexible with their time to adjust to the needs/requests of members.
Ability to navigate complex leadership and organizational issues while maintaining high degree of confidentiality, discretion, privacy, and composure in any high-pressure situation.
