Job Description
St. Paul Center's Publishing Arm: Emmaus Road Publishing, is seeking a highly competent, motivated, and creative print and book designer to join a successful Catholic publishing team.The Print Designer will be a critical leader in the production process, overseeing the layout and design of popular level books as well as helping to create Marketing print assets. This position is essential to ensuring brand consistency, the timely development and release of books, and will involve close collaboration with the Editorial team and the Marketing team.
Responsibilities and Duties:
+ Conceptualize and execute the design of book interiors, jackets and covers under the supervision of Editorial and Marketing directors.
+ Follow Emmaus Road's aesthetic, design standards and house styles.
+ Establish and adhere to schedules from design concept, through associated sales materials to final files for production to digital archiving and epub files.
+ Develop a portfolio of marketing assets to assist with each book's promotional campaign. Assets will be needed for email campaigns, social media, events, and more.
+ Manage product pages for StPaulCenter.com and Amazon.com.
+ Update files for reprints, working closely with Operations to fulfill inventory needs.
+ Assist with branding and creation of collateral material for the ministry's on-location conferences, including banners, programs, and promotional materials
+ Develop and assist with print assets such as flyers, book catalogs, brochures and other Marketing needs.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design or equivalent
+ Expert in InDesign and Photoshop. Figma is a plus.
+ 2 or more years of experience in book production or equivalent publishing experience
+ Good understanding and appreciation of art and design history, typography and layouts.
+ Collaborative with the ability to work well as part of a team and create strong working relationships and accept constructive criticism
+ Proficient knowledge of book production processes from conception to publication.
+ Deadline oriented and ability to work independently with ownership of projects
+ A good understanding of Catholic lay and clergy audience, consumer behavior, and marketing strategies
+ Good time management with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously and keep a level head under pressure in a reactive environment with quick turnaround times
+ Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
+ Stays up to date with current design trends
