Job Description
Mary Immaculate is a Catholic elementary school (PreK4-8) in the Diocese of Dallas, located in the heart of Farmers Branch, TX. Under the guidance of the Nashville Dominican Sisters, we strive to help students come to know and love the Person of Jesus Christ as they strive for college and heaven. We form our students in mind, body, and spirit.Mary Immaculate School is currently seeking a 6th Grade English, Literature & History Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year.
The teacher will guide students in developing strong reading, writing, critical thinking, and historical analysis skills while fostering a love for literature and an understanding of world history and cultures.
Responsibilities
• Teach 6th Grade English Literature and History courses.
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards.
• Promote strong reading comprehension, writing, and analytical skills.
• Encourage discussion, critical thinking, and historical inquiry.
• Incorporate a variety of instructional strategies and learning activities.
• Assess student progress through assignments, projects, tests, and presentations.
• Maintain a structured, respectful, and supportive classroom environment.
• Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress.
• Collaborate with colleagues and participate in faculty meetings and school activities.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in English, History, or Education.
• Experience teaching upper elementary students preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Effective classroom management skills.
• Commitment to the mission of Catholic education.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with literature circles or writing workshops
• Ability to integrate technology into instruction.
• Familiarity with differentiated instruction and student-centered learning
