Job Description
We are hiring a Catholic scriptwriter to join the production team behind TruePresence, a thirty-course Catholic video formation platform being developed by the Lifelong Learning Institute at Divine Mercy University and produced at Mary's Land Farm. The platform is built for Catholic young adults aged eighteen to thirty-five - converts, returning Catholics, the spiritually curious, and the formed-but-hungry - who are increasingly watching their formation on a phone or tablet, often late at night, in the small windows of time between everything else demanding their attention. The series covers the foundations of Catholic faith, prayer and the interior life, mental health and wholeness, grief and family healing, marriage and vocation, and the sacraments and Scripture, and brings together a roster of presenters that includes Legionary priests, theologians, therapists, consecrated women, and married witnesses - each one a real expert in their field, each one prepared by Fr. Lino Otero, LC, with a ten- to fifteen-page production brief grounding the course in the Catholic intellectual tradition and the contemporary pastoral landscape. The writer's role is to take those briefs - one at a time, course by course - and shape them into video-ready scripts that translate the depth of the Catholic vision into a register that actually lands with the audience we are trying to reach: conversational, warm, intelligent, and human, without ever losing theological substance or pastoral weight. It is video writing - bullet outlines, opening hooks, transition lines, concrete example prompts that surface real personal stories from the priest or witness on camera, and natural question lists for the interviewer or young adult co-host who appears in many of the courses. The ideal candidate is a practicing Catholic who reads widely in the tradition, is comfortable with names like Ratzinger, Balthasar, John Paul II, and the Catechism, but who can also recognize why a twenty-three-year-old who has never opened any of them is the actual reader on the other side of the screen - and can write accordingly, with energy and clarity and without the academic register that has made so much Catholic content unreachable for the very people it most needs to reach. We work one course brief at a time, one writer per course, and ongoing collaboration with the director, and where possible the subject matter expert themselves. Compensation is per-course or hourly, negotiable based on experience. To apply, please send a brief writing sample (ideally something where you have made dense theological or formational material accessible to a non-academic audience), a one-paragraph note on how you would approach a single course brief, and your preferred rate and availability to begin a one-course test assignment.Send applications or inquiries to: dGozQGVudGVycHJpc2V0ZWNobm9sb2d5cGFya3MuY29t
