Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEWHelp bring G.K. Chesterton to a new generation. And tell one of the most important stories in Catholic education.
The Chesterton Society is seeking a Graphic Designer to bring to life the ideas, writings, and legacy of G.K. Chesterton through compelling visual storytelling while helping represent the largest network of Catholic, classical high schools in the world.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Brand & Creative Leadership:
- Collaborate closely with writers, marketers, and organizational leadership to develop integrated campaigns and creative solutions that advance the mission of the Society of G.K. Chesterton and the Chesterton Schools Network.
- Translate ideas, messages, and strategies into compelling visual stories that communicate with clarity, beauty, and impact.
- Ensure visual consistency and brand excellence across all Society and Chesterton Schools Network communications.
Marketing & Campaign Design:
- Design print and digital marketing collateral, including brochures, flyers, postcards, presentations, and promotional materials.
- Create graphics and visual assets for social media, email marketing, fundraising campaigns, conferences, events, and special initiatives.
- Support marketing campaigns that attract prospective families, school founders, Society members, donors, and event attendees.
Digital Experience:
- Design and maintain website graphics, page layouts, and other digital experiences that strengthen engagement and usability
School Marketing & Brand Systems:
- Create branded templates, toolkits, and marketing resources that support more than 100 Chesterton schools and founding groups.
- Manage and continually improve the Chesterton Canva environment, including templates, brand assets, and scalable design systems that enable schools to produce high-quality, on-brand communications.
QUALIFICATIONS
Design Excellence:
- 3-7 years of professional graphic design experience
- Strong portfolio demonstrating thoughtful, brand-driven design across print and digital media
- Excellent typography, layout, visual communication, and creative problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to producing polished, high-quality work
Digital Design & Creative Tools:
- Advanced proficiency in Canva, including experience building scalable template libraries and brand systems
- Experience designing for web, social media, email marketing, and print
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop) and/or Figma is a plus
Brand Strategy & Creative Thinking
- Creative thinker with an eye for storytelling, branding, campaign development, and visual identity
- Ability to translate ideas into clear, engaging visual communications that advance strategic objectives
Project Management & Collaboration
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with writers, marketers, school leaders, and executive leadership
Dedication to the Mission
- Devote working time to the mission of evangelization that is the Society of G. K. Chesterton, including participation in daily prayer, and personal advancement of those particularly Chestertonian virtues of charity, joy, learning and continual conversion.
- The successful candidate must exhibit faithfulness to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church in accord with our canonical status as a private association of the Christian faithful.
Helpful, not required:
- Motion or animation basics; light video editing
- HTML email and front-end familiarity - enough to design within the constraint
- Experience with schools, publishing, nonprofits, or membership organizations
- Photography, or good judgment in art-directing a photographer.
