Job Description
Porto Charities seeks an experienced full-time Development Director to lead the implementation of fundraising activities to grow the capacity of our key programs and ensure the financial sustainability of our organization and mission.Reporting to the CEO and working in close collaboration with Porto Charities' Development Committee, the Development Director will lead the fundraising team. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinking, an exceptional relationship builder and a passionate advocate for Catholic education and employment for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan that aligns with Porto Charities' strategic goals and maximizes revenue from diverse sources, including individual donors, businesses and foundations.
- Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with individual donors.
- Oversee the planning and implementation of giving campaigns, including direct mail, online appeals, monthly giving and peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives.
- Collaborate with Porto Charities' Development Committee and key education and employment programs to develop compelling grant proposals.
- Participate on event steering committee teams to plan and execute successful fundraising and donor recognition events such as Porto's annual gala and golf tournament.
- Build robust donor relation practices to acknowledge, recognize and engage donors.
- Oversee Porto Charities' donor database (GiveSmart) ensuring accurate record-keeping, reporting, and using data effectively to inform development strategies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree required
- Five years of experience in non-profit fundraising
- Experience with Catholic Church, schools, institutions preferred
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Exercises sound judgement, discretion and maintains confidentiality
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a missions-driven team
- Passion for the mission of Porto Charities
