Description
Light of the World Catholic Parish is seeing a full-time Operations Manager. The Parish Operations Manager serves as a key member of the parish leadership team and is responsible for the effective administration of parish operations, including finance, human resources, facilities oversight, office administration, risk management, and strategic initiatives. Working closely with the Pastor, Archdiocesan departments, and the Mission Support Center (MSC), the Parish Operations Manager ensures that parish resources are managed responsibly and in support of the mission of Light of the World Catholic Parish.
This position operates with the understanding that while a parish must function with sound business practices, all decisions and actions must reflect Catholic values and support the evangelizing mission of the Church.
Essential Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Parish Operations
Serve as a trusted advisor to the Pastor regarding operational, financial, and administrative matters.
Collaborate with the Pastor to support strategic planning and parish priorities.
Coordinate major parish projects and initiatives, ensuring timely communication, accountability, and progress reporting.
Act as the primary liaison with the Archdiocesan Mission Support Center (MSC) and other Archdiocesan departments.
Assist the Pastor in fostering a healthy, collaborative staff culture and supporting effective staff leadership and volunteer engagement.
Support conflict resolution among parish staff, volunteers, and parishioners when appropriate.
Financial Management and Stewardship
Ensure sound stewardship of parish financial resources in compliance with Archdiocesan policies, civil regulations, and Catholic ethical principles.
Coordinate the annual budgeting process in partnership with parish leadership and MSC Finance.
Review and analyze monthly financial statements, budgets, and reports.
Assist in preparing financial reports for the Pastor, Finance Council, Archdiocese, and parish community.
Maintain strong internal controls, approval procedures, and financial accountability practices.
Oversee parish purchasing and payment processes.
Review and code accounts payable invoices, reimbursement requests, and bills for processing.
Support banking relationships and coordinate parish fundraising activities.
Ensure proper collection counting procedures and safeguarding of parish assets.
Coordinate annual contribution statements and other donor stewardship communications.
Human Resources Administration
Serve as the primary parish contact for human resource administration.
Help support MSC human resources administration with employee onboarding, offboarding, personnel records, benefits administration, and compliance requirements (including Safe Environment).
Support payroll administration, including review and approval of employee timecards and related payroll processes.
Assist the Pastor with performance management, employee relations, and implementation of Archdiocesan HR policies.
Office Administration and Staff Support
Oversee the efficient operation of the parish office.
Supervise administrative support personnel and related office functions.
Establish and maintain efficient administrative procedures and records management systems.
Ensure effective communication and coordination among parish ministries, staff, and volunteers.
Facilities, Risk Management, and Vendor Oversight
Assist with oversight of parish facilities, construction projects, repairs, and major maintenance initiatives.
Review contracts, bids, and vendor agreements to ensure fiscal responsibility and compliance.
Coordinate annual risk management requirements and related reporting.
Support compliance with applicable safety standards, and Archdiocesan policies.
Manage vendor relationships and monitor service agreements.
Development and Parish Support
Collaborate with ministry leaders and parish organizations in support of parish programs and events.
Support donor stewardship activities and parish communications related to financial transparency and accountability.
Assist residence priests, deacons, and seminarians with reimbursement and administrative needs as appropriate.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Pastor.
Requirements
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Nonprofit Management, or a related field preferred.
Minimum five years of progressively responsible leadership or management experience.
Experience in finance, operations, human resources, nonprofit management, or Catholic parish administration preferred.
Supervisory experience strongly preferred.
Experience supporting executive leadership and managing multiple priorities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong financial management and budgeting skills.
Excellent organizational, project management, and administrative abilities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships, lead teams, and manage conflict professionally.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other administrative and financial software systems.
Ability to manage complex priorities while maintaining a high level of service and professionalism.
Strong understanding of stewardship principles and nonprofit operations.
Faith Requirement
Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church strongly preferred.
Demonstrated commitment to the mission of the Archdiocese of Denver and the evangelizing mission of the Catholic Church.
Ability to integrate faith, stewardship, and pastoral sensitivity into daily decision-making and leadership.
