Coordinator of Youth Ministry
St. Rose of Lima Parish | 407 South Main Street | North Syracuse, NY

St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church seeks an energetic, creative, and enthusiastic Coordinator of Middle and High School Youth Ministry. The candidate must be an active Roman Catholic and invested parishioner with a deep faith in Christ, rooted in the Word of God and Catholic Tradition, who has a missionary heart and strives to be a model of moral and spiritual life for teens.
Responsibilities
• Coordinate and facilitate the middle school and high school youth programs.
• Recruit teens and volunteers; recruit, interview and evaluate adult volunteers.
• Foster teen and family involvement in parish life and build parent support.
• Reach out to those on the periphery and to disengaged Catholics.
• Attend staff meetings and plan and schedule activities with the pastor and staff.
• Maintain regular access to a spiritual director.
• Communicate with all stakeholders, including the parish utilizing print, electronic and social media.
Relationships
• Reports to supervisors (pastor and deacon)
• Works closely with parish staff, committees, parents, and parishioners.
• Takes part in parish life beyond youth ministry, including events and prayer.
• Follows diocesan policies and joins in diocesan professional development.
Program Objectives
• Lead teens to more deeply embrace the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Christian life.
• Offer dynamic, personal programs that foster holiness and discipleship.
• Provide a safe place for teens and families to grow together in faith.
• Develop intentional outreach to uninvolved teens in the parish, seekers, the unchurched
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree, preferably in theology, and at least two years of experience in a middle or high school youth program.
• Strong understanding of Catholic theology and a working knowledge of liturgy.
• Comfortable with public speaking and creative presentations.
• Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Collaborative; creates a welcoming environment for all teens and advocates for youth.
• Understands teen culture and its relationship to Catholic faith life.
• Experience recruiting, training, and working with adult and teen volunteers.
• Proficient with technology and social media.
• Available for flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Status and Compensation
The position is full-time. Compensation is commensurate with education and experience, in accordance with diocesan salary guidelines, and includes health care and disability coverage. Exact terms will be negotiated with the pastor.

Flexible start date: January 15, 2027, or June 1, 2027.
