Job Description

OSV News is seeking a Bilingual (Spanish/English) Associate Editor with a strong understanding of the Catholic Church to assist the OSV News team in development new projects and supporting current ones.

The OSV News Associate Editor will write, review, and edit content for OSV News according to OSV's publication style and editorial guidelines.

Essential Job Functions (*=Non-essential tasks):

Manage and help grow Simply Catholic Connect content platform through editing, content development, and content sharing
Manage relationships with freelance writers for various OSV News projects, written and digital
Create and edit OSV News content, as needed
Pitch creative and dynamic stories to raise OSV News's profile and engage audiences
Identify emerging trends, topics, and opportunities in the Catholic Church to inform content strategy
Assist Spanish Editor in editing/posting content to Spanish website
Participate in a team-centric, fully remote environment that adheres to the Catholic Media Association's Fair Publishing Practices Code
Accomplish all other tasks or duties as assigned
Requirements:

Experience:
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in Catholic communications
Experience in writing and editing for a national publication preferred

Education:
Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or equivalent Liberal Arts field preferred; however, a combination of relevant work experience and education will be considered

Skills and Abilities:
Fluent in Spanish
Exemplary writing and editing skills
Ability to meet quick deadlines without sacrificing quality
Strong knowledge of AP style
Ability to work well with a team
Ability to be accountable in a remote work environment
A passion for accuracy and truth-telling
Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills to manage projects simultaneously
Strong understanding of Catholic Church teachings and practices
Abilities in planning and coordinating people and operations
Willingness and interest in working as part of a creative, collaborative team

Working Environment:
Incumbent will be working in a remote office environment
Must be able to sit for the majority of one's shift
May be required to travel a few times a year

Compensation

OSV recognizes that its employees work in many different states and therefore may be affected by different laws. It is OSV's intention to comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws that apply to the Company's employees

Salary Statement:
Compensation offered is determined based on market data, internal equity, and an applicant's relevant skills, experience, and educational background.
General Salary Range: $50,000 - $55,000 annually
