Job Description

The Basilica of Saint Mary
BULLETIN EDITORIAL ASSISTANT
Assists Bulletin Editor in production of a 12-page weekly parish bulletin
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: 8 hours per week, in the Parish Office
• Manage/update specific standing bulletin features, as assigned by Bulletin Editor
• On Monday, proofread/review bulletin content for grammar, spelling, punctuation, consistency, accuracy and proper Catholic terminology
AS NEEDED
• Be available to work additional hours (more than 8 hours in the week) to assume bulletin production responsibilities when Bulletin Editor is on vacation, etc.
• Conduct research/search for bulletin content, graphics, photos, illustrations
• Maintain, update and index topics lists for standing features
• Help maintain routine contact with representatives of parish apostolate groups.
• Follow up with staff, clergy, ministries and parish groups when materials are missing or submitted late
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
• Practicing Catholic with a good understanding of Church teaching, the liturgy and the liturgical calendar
• Proficiency with CANVA (required), Word and Outlook
• Detail oriented
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Good communication skills needed to work with a wide range of staff and parishioners
