Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and mission-driven Staff Accountant to join our Finance Department. The Staff Accountant will play an essential role in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of RCA's financial operations while upholding the organization's commitment to faithful stewardship of the resources entrusted to us. Responsibilities include maintaining financial records and reports, performing account reconciliations, assisting with budgets and closing processes, conducting internal audits, and maintaining accounts payable documentation. The Staff Accountant will also assist the Tuition Manager and Director of Finance as needed and provide timely responses to management and auditors.

The ideal candidate will bring both technical accounting expertise and a deep sense of responsibility for RCA's mission and Catholic identity, recognizing that fiscal accountability is a vital form of service to our families, staff, and the broader Church.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain accurate financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts.
Prepare journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations; assist with monthly and annual close processes.
Support the development, monitoring, and review of annual operating budgets and performance projections.
Maintain documentation for accounts payable, purchasing, and treasury functions.
Conduct internal audits and ensure adherence to accounting policies and internal controls.
Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and variance analyses.
Meet processing and reporting deadlines consistently and accurately.
Respond to information requests, prepare and review financial statements, and assist with annual audits.
Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant federal, state, and nonprofit regulations.
Assist the Tuition Manager and DoF as needed in special projects and strategic initiatives.
Uphold RCA's Catholic mission by practicing good stewardship, professional integrity, and faithful service in all financial matters.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience (nonprofit experience preferred).
Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
Proficiency with Google Workspace, especially spreadsheets, and FACTS
Strong numeracy, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time management.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a mission-oriented team.
Commitment to upholding and modeling the teachings and values of the Catholic Church in professional conduct and decision-making.
Applicants must be able to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church and have a deep love for the Catholic faith. Curriculum and grading guidelines are provided. Tutors are trained to provide instruction and classroom management according to RCA standards. The ideal applicant will have strong communication skills, good organization, timeliness, a traditional view of the student/teacher relationship, and must be living the Catholic faith day-to-day, including having received all the sacraments appropriate to his or her state in life.
