Job Description

The Archdiocese is seeking a Benefits Administrator to manage and administer comprehensive health, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, and wellness programs for our multi-entity Catholic organization of more than 4,000 employees, including both lay staff and clergy. This role blends attention to detail, benefits knowledge, and compassionate support to ensure our employees are well cared for, allowing them to focus on advancing the mission to rescue all people in Jesus Christ for the glory of the Father.

Key Responsibilities

-Benefits Plan Administration: Administer a full range of health, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, and voluntary benefit programs, managing new hire enrollments, life event changes, terminations, and weekly processing in HRIS and payroll systems. Reconcile invoices, conduct audits, and maintain accurate benefit records and reporting, while serving as the primary liaison with benefit brokers, vendors, and carriers to resolve escalated issues and ensure excellent service delivery.
-Compliance & Regulatory Oversight: Ensure compliance with ACA, COBRA and state continuation requirements, HIPAA, FMLA, IRS, and other applicable regulations by preparing and distributing required employee notices, coordinating with vendors on annual filings, nondiscrimination testing, and Form 5500 processes, and staying informed of church plan exemptions to provide guidance to leadership as appropriate.
-Open Enrollment & Communication: Lead the annual open enrollment process, including planning, system setup, employee education, and development of communication materials. Coordinate benefit fairs, webinars, and retirement education sessions in partnership with external providers, and collaborate with Marketing and Communications to ensure intranet and benefit resources are current, accurate, and easily accessible to employees
-Retirement Plan Administration: Manage the day-to-day operations of the 403(b) retirement plan, including enrollments, funding audits, resolution of escalated employee issues, and coordination with vendors. Participate in Retirement Committee and Welfare Benefits Trust meetings, supporting annual audits and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
-Leave & Wellness Programs: Oversee benefits continuation during leaves of absence in coordination with HR and Risk Management, supporting FMLA administration and workers' compensation benefits as needed. Administer employee wellness initiatives, including the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), health screenings, and programs that support spiritual well-being.
-Employee Support & Mission Alignment: Serves as the escalated point of contact (the HR Partners and Generalists are the first point of contact) for employee benefit inquiries, providing timely, compassionate, and accurate support. Conduct new hire benefits orientations and offer one-on-one guidance during life events or complex claims, fostering a culture of service that reflects the values and mission of the Catholic Church.

What We're Looking For

-A practicing Catholic eager to carry out the mission of the Archdiocese to rescue all people in Jesus Christ for the glory of the Father.
-Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (preferred); Associate's degree required.
-5-7 years of experience in benefits administration within a mid-to large-sized, multi-site organization.
-Strong knowledge of ACA, COBRA/state continuation, HIPAA, FMLA, IRS rules, and other benefits regulations.
-Proficiency in HRIS (Paylocity preferred) and Microsoft Excel; strong analytical and reporting skills.
-Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
-Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity.
-Affinity for and understanding of the Catholic faith; ability to thrive in a mission-driven environment.

Expected salary range: $75,000-$90,000 annually. Actual offer will depend upon candidate's experience, qualifications, and relevant skills.
