Job Description

"Small school, big heart" are the words Saint Saviour Catholic Academy uses to capture its special culture and spirit. Indeed, Saint Saviour is a unicorn of a Catholic elementary school: small by design in its intimate, three-story brick home; progressive, responsive, and advanced in its curriculum and instructional approach; and, inclusive and welcoming to students and families of diverse backgrounds and faiths. Half of the student body identifies as non-Catholic, and 63% are students of color.

Located in the historic and highly desirable Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, Saint Saviour is a nursery through 8th grade school enrolling 318 students from most zip codes in Brooklyn as well as families from Queens, Manhattan, and New Jersey. Families choose Saint Saviour because of the safe, close-knit, loving, and welcoming community that represents the diversity of a major metropolis all within a faith-based and nurturing environment. It truly feels like an extension of home. The youngest to the oldest students are actively engaged in learning, joy-filled with their classmates and teachers, and honing interests and talents from a robust band and choral program to mindfulness activities appreciating God's creation in the nearby Prospect Park.

Founded in 1906, Saint Saviour became an independent school with a governing Board of Trustees in 2012. The Board has recently announced a strategic leadership shift to a "Head of School" model and has launched a nationwide search for this position. The Head of School reports to a two-tiered Board composed of a small Board of Members at the diocesan level and a Board of Trustees at the school level. The Head of School will aid in the transition from an Assistant Principal role to a leadership structure that will oversee the curriculum and instructional program of the school. This leadership structure will allow the Head of School to focus time and resources on the strategic dimension of the school itself: marketing and bridge-building to new and prospective parents, stewarding and cultivating the school's donorbase, and generating innovative, mission-aligned initiatives to allow Saint Savior to maintain its value-add advantage in a competitive school landscape.

The next Head of School will inherit the sunsetting of a 2022 - 2025 strategic plan as well as the completion of a recent $2 million capital campaign for a state-of-the-art rooftop playground.
