As Saint Faustina prepares to enter a new chapter with the opening of a new church and the continued growth of its young families, this position plays a vital role in building a culture of discipleship, hospitality, and belonging. Working alongside the Elementary Formation Director, the Assistant Coordinator helps create engaging and transformative opportunities for children in grades K-5 to encounter Christ, grow in their Catholic faith, and become active members of the parish community.

Purpose
The Assistant Elementary Formation Coordinator serves as a key leader within the Faith Formation team, helping to shape and strengthen the faith lives of hundreds of children and families in one of the fastest-growing Catholic parishes in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.

This role serves as both a ministry leader and operational partner, supporting catechists, accompanying families, coordinating major programs and events, and helping ensure that every child and family experiences the love, mercy, and welcome of Jesus Christ through the life of the parish.

Key Responsibilities
• Collaborate with the Elementary Formation Director in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all K-5 Faith Formation programs.
• Collaborate with the Sacrament Preparation Coordinator for all sacrament needs for elementary students.
• Help cultivate a welcoming, engaging, and mission-driven environment for children, families, catechists, and volunteers.
• Provide leadership and support during weekly formation sessions, special events, and parish-wide initiatives.
• Assist in recruiting, training, equipping, and supporting catechists and classroom aides.
• Partner with families as the primary faith formators of their children.

Qualifications
• Practicing Catholic in good standing who is committed to living and sharing the teachings of the Catholic Church.
• Bachelor's degree in theology, religious education, education, ministry, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of two years experience in parish ministry, religious education, teaching, youth ministry, or related field preferred.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to recruit, motivate, and support volunteers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced, and rapidly growing parish environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and parish management systems including ParishStaq.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Hours & Schedule
This is a full-time position requiring evening and weekend availability, particularly during Faith Formation sessions, Vacation Bible School, sacramental celebrations, and parish formation events.
