Job Description

Middle School Math and Science Teacher

Wood Rose Academy is a small private, classical, Catholic school located in Concord, California. We are looking for an energetic dynamic teacher to join our team. Applicants must have an excellent rapport with students, and have a love of teaching (teaching credential preferred but not required). We are looking for a full time middle school math and science teacher.
Bachelor's degree in Education, Math, Science or a related field. Strong subject knowledge and expertise in math/ science curriculum and instructional strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Curriculum Development and Instruction:
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with the school curriculum and educational standards for math and science.
- Teach a range of topics in math and science, including algebra, geometry, life sciences, physical sciences, and earth sciences.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and materials to cater to diverse learning styles and promote conceptual understanding.
- Incorporate weekly hands-on experiments, labs, projects, and real-world applications to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
-Responsible for the annual Science Fair, located on the school campus.

2. Classroom Management:
- Create a positive classroom environment that supports learning and encourages student participation.
- Establish clear expectations for behavior and academic performance, and reinforce them consistently.
- Manage classroom dynamics effectively, maintain discipline, and resolve conflicts when necessary.
- Foster a safe and respectful learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.

3. Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
- Assess student understanding and progress regularly through quizzes, tests, projects, and assignments.
- Provide constructive feedback to students to support their growth and identify areas for improvement.
- Keep accurate records of student grades, attendance, and academic performance.
- Communicate student progress to parents or guardians through progress reports, parent-teacher conferences, and other means.

4. Individualized Instruction and Support:
- Identify individual student needs and adapt instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning abilities.
- Provide additional support and guidance to struggling students, including tutoring and targeted interventions.
- Challenge advanced students with opportunities for enrichment and extension of their learning.
- Collaborate with other teachers, and support staff to address individual student needs.

5. Collaboration and Professional Development:
- Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum, share best practices, and coordinate interdisciplinary projects.
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and workshops.
- Stay updated with the latest research, resources, and instructional techniques in math and science education.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills and subject matter expertise.
