Job Description

Position Summary
Assists the Pastor with operational, financial, physical (to include facilities) and human resources of the Parish, in accordance with Diocesan policies and guidelines. Provides leadership and day-to-day supervision of the operational and financial matters of the Parish, in a way that enables the Pastor to concentrate on the spiritual affairs of the Parish. The position calls for coordination with other members of the Parish staff to include priests, staff, and faculty of St Thomas Aquinas Regional School (STARS) (campus tenant). Leads the staff planning and operational meetings while maintaining consistent dialogue with the Pastor so that he is fully apprised of Parish issues and events being considered and acted upon by the Business Manager.

Position Reports to: Pastor

Minimum Position Requirements:
Requires a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, with a business, finance, or management degree or equivalent, and at least five years' proven successful experience in finance or business or management arenas. Incumbent must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church and possesses a strong knowledge of the teachings of the Church and Liturgical life of a Parish, as well as general knowledge of Canon Law regarding the temporal administration of a Parish. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to successfully resolve conflicts and solve problems. Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with the Pastor, other priests, Parish and STARS employees and volunteers, and others within the Parish and School community. Must be committed to employee motivation and team building and to continuously working to improve the efficiency, knowledge and skill sets of Parish personnel.

Incumbent must be familiar or could quickly understand, manage, and be responsible for accounting via QuickBooks, financial reporting, payroll, human resource policies and procedures, benefits administration, information technology, insurance, security, and facilities management. Must be capable of always maintaining confidentiality, under all circumstances.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Business Manager is responsible for supervising all Parish staff on administrative matters to ensure that necessary tasks and duties are completed in a timely and effective manner. The incumbent will prepare an initial draft of annual performance evaluations for all staff members for review and approval by the Pastor.
