Job Description

Position Summary

Walsh University is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and passionate individual who is enthusiastic about the environment found on a private, values based, Catholic liberal arts campus. The Director of Campus Ministry is responsible for administering to the spiritual needs and personal/social development of the Walsh University community. Serving as a catalyst in the formation of faith and spiritual development, primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, intentional recruitment with a perspective of promulgating the Catholic faith; establishing close relationships with University students, faculty, staff and coaches; collaborating with and being a supportive member of the Student Affairs, Campus Ministry and Chaplaincy teams; and taking a leadership role in fostering participation and involvement in the services and activities of the campus faith community. This position reports to the University Chaplain.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Maintain and promulgate a vision for the Campus Ministry Department, specifically for the respective apostolates of the Campus Ministers
Direct the everyday operations for Campus Ministry
Supervises Graduate Campus Minister/Residence Life Outreach, Graduate Campus Minister/Student-Athlete Outreach, and Campus Ministry Intern(s) (when applicable)
Advise/support students in need/crisis, referring students when appropriate. This includes working with the Student Affairs Crisis Response Team when called upon.
Oversee the Campus Ministry team with administrative assignments, which may include project coordination, coordination/implementation of annual assessment of program services and student satisfaction, fundraising projects, formation and training experiences in light of department vision, and communication with campus and external constituents.
Develop and implement semester retreat experiences, and annual service and formation experiences
Coordinate and organize leadership training and formation experiences for students, staff and faculty.
Work with the Campus Ministry team in identifying, empowering, and coordinating the gifts of the Walsh University faith community and supervise a team of Campus Ministry Scholarship students.
Oversee Campus Ministry budgets and department resources.
Develop collaboration efforts with external ministry constituencies
Promote availability and visibility to student body via effective utilization of office space, office hours and attendance/involvement in campus programs and events.
Support the Liturgical life of the campus by participating in prayer celebrations and formational opportunities.

Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Must understand and support the Mission, Vision and Code of Ethical Conduct of Walsh University, as a Catholic higher education university as expressed in Ex Corde Ecclesiae, and possess the following:

Required Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree is required; Master's degree is preferred in Theology, pastoral ministry or related field.
Experience in campus ministry programming or ministry experience in a setting which outreaches to students.
Applicants must be a Catholic in good standing, give assent of intellect and will to all the Church's teachings, and be faithful to the Magisterium
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Catholic teachings, values, and traditions.
Strong communication, mediation, and interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on empathy and active listening.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters with discretion and compassion.
Demonstrated excellence with interpersonal, written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to work collaboratively with a wide variety of campus and community constituencies
Flexibility with work schedule as evening and weekend programming will be required

Other Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in higher education or educational work setting.
Professional demeanor and ability to interact with charity towards students, staff and faculty.
Experience as a spiritual advisor within the Roman Catholic tradition
