St. Vincent Martyr Organist Job Description

General Information:

St. Vincent Martyr Roman Catholic Church, a large, vibrant church in the heart of downtown Madison, NJ, seeks qualified candidates for the position of part time church organist.
Comfortable at both the organ and piano
Accompanies Parish liturgies, sacraments, and celebrations
Works well with musicians of all ages and abilities
Has an understanding and appreciation of the importance of sacred music in worship
Is dependable and reliable
Reports to the Director of Music
Salary: $30-$35k, commensurate with experience, plus an average $17-20k in funerals and weddings annually

Responsibilities:

Accompanying at most weekend Masses (Saturday 5pm, Sunday 9am, 10:30am, 12pm, Sunday 5pm)
Weekly rehearsals (Wednesday afternoons and evenings, September - June)
Accompanying at:
all Parish Holy Days, sacraments, and celebrations
Most Christmas Masses
All Triduum Masses and services
All weddings and funerals (average of 40-50 of each/year)
Attend liturgy committee meetings (Monday evenings once a month)
Maintain steady practice habits and seek out opportunities for musical and liturgical growth and development through local and national music organizations (AGO, NPM, etc.)

Instrument Details

Organ (Peragallo, 1980) with 31 ranks, 1802 speaking pipes, trumpet en chamade, 20 chimes, and cymbalstern. The organ was renovated and upgraded in 2017, including addition of a digital system.
