Job Description
The mission of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington is to spread the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. In the faithful pursuit of that mission, the Archdiocese is seeking a Coordinator for Christian Initiation and Adult Formation. The Coordinator will assist the Secretary for Catechesis in the mission of the evangelization and catechesis so that Christ may be known, and His mystical Body, the Church, may be built up. This is a full-time role and will report to the Secretary for Catechesis.Duties and Responsibilities
Christian Initiation
• Support and provide training for the catechumenal process in parishes.
• Support Parish Baptism preparation with resources and training.
Adult Faith Formation
• Support adult formation by providing resources and guidance in developing robust adult faith formation opportunities
• Implement the Archdiocese of Washington employee formation program, Living Catholic.
Catechist Formation
• Oversee catechist formation for volunteer catechists and elementary religion teachers.
• Offer training opportunities for parish and school catechists to complete the certification process.
Additional Areas of Responsibility
• Oversee the implementation of the annual Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion, the bi-annual Archdiocesan Catechetical Day, and the annual Pentecost Confirmation.
• Support the High School Religion teacher certification process.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Candidate must be knowledgeable of and committed to the teachings of the Catholic Church, as well as evidence a spirit of discipleship.
• Outstanding communication skills both orally and in writing
• Excellent organizational skills
• Outstanding people skills
Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree required (MA preferred) in Religious Education, Theology or related field.
• At least two (2) years of experience in parish catechesis or evangelization
• Bilingual English/Spanish verbal and written skills.
• Advanced skills with MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
