Position Title: Director of Child, Youth and Family Ministry

Reports To: Pastor

Holy Spirit parish, situated at the heart of a vibrant University town, is a Roman Catholic community of 874 households, and growing! Formed in 2016 through the uniting of a 100 year old Polish Parish and a Newman Center, our diversity and heritage make for a vital community of faith dedicated to serving the Whole People of God. Currently, we are seeking an experienced and committed Director of Child, Youth and Family Ministry. Candidates should have ministry and leadership experience, with an emphasis on youth ministry.

Overview: The DCYFM collaborates with the Pastor in forming disciples of Christ. The DCYFM administers all parish early childhood through late adolescent family formation programming; fully serving, resourcing, and supporting the Volunteer Coordinators directly responsible for facilitating all catechetical, class-style programming. The DCYFM administers most community building, liturgical, and mission/service activities, helping to enliven and strengthen each child's, youth's, and family's relationship with Christ and one another.

Administrative Responsibilities

1. Actively engages parish Mission Statement; supports the growth of the Synodal Church and its practices; pursues initiatives of parish Leadership Team; collaborates with Parish Staff; participates in weekly staff meeting.
2. Builds effective, gift-based leadership pipeline. Provides content for on-going leadership development.
3. Directly engages 6th - 12th grade youth in developing community building social activities, stewardship through mission/service experiences, understanding of and competence in the liturgical arts, and retreats.
4. Serves as staff liaison and resource for Volunteer Coordinators of the following programs: Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, K-5th Family Formation, Early Grade Sacraments, 6th-12th Youth and Family programming including, but not limited to, Confirmation.
5. Develops a Youth Ministry Committee, including at least two youth representatives; attends monthly Faith Formation and Youth Ministry Committee meetings.
6. Budgets; tracks expenses; writes engaging, data-driven annual report. 7. Pursues, writes, and administers grants.
8. Updates and maintains relevant website pages.

General Responsibilities:

1. Co-leads with the pastor in the work of moving the parish from maintenance to mission and implementing the vision of the Divine Renovation movement begun by Fr. James Mallon.
2. Works with adolescent youth, families, parish staff, volunteer coordinator and volunteers to develop a ministry at Holy Spirit as envisioned by the US Bishops in their document Renewing the Vision with its 3 Goals, 7 Themes and 8 Components.
3. Leads in assessing the faith formation needs of parish children, youth, and families; reviews the effectiveness of program offerings, volunteer coordinators, volunteer catechists, and other volunteers.
4. Identifies, recruits, trains, and encourages volunteer coordinators, volunteer catechists, and other volunteers as needed.
5. Attends to proper communication with - and evangelization of - families and youth, focusing on face-to-face encounters and using varied and appropriate forms of social media.
6. Develops and maintains good working relationships with local, regional, and national colleagues in Child, Youth, and Family Formation.
7. Communicates with maintenance personnel to insure that facilities are prepared to meet program needs.
8. The Director practices their faith and is active in the parish.
Evaluation
The Director of Child, Youth, and Family Ministry will meet regularly with the pastor for oversight, planning, and communication. The pastor will evaluate the director annually.

Requirements

1. A living faith in Jesus Christ and the ability to share that faith with others.
2. A practicing Catholic.
3. An adult level of understanding of the Catholic faith.
4. At least two years of experience in Ministry.
5. A Bachelor's Degree in Theology, Religious Studies or other appropriate field.
6. A Master's Degree in Theology or related field preferred.
7. Strong organizational and time management skills.
8. Proficiency in the use of technology for communicating.
9. A team player.
10. Able to engage people of all ages and backgrounds with compassion.
11. Able to manage a very variable work schedule that will include evenings and weekends
while keeping close to 40 hours a week.
