Job Description

St. Francis de Sales Parish - Vernon, New Jersey
St. Francis de Sales Parish is seeking a part-time Director of Sacred Music to lead and coordinate the parish music program.
The parish celebrates four weekend Masses (Saturday evening and three Sunday morning Masses) and has an active adult choir (10-12 members), cantors, organist, and seasonal children's choir.
Responsibilities include:
• Planning music for weekend liturgies, Holy Days, and special liturgies
• Coordinating cantors, choir members, and musicians
• Directing the adult choir at the Sunday 10:00 AM Mass
• Cantor masses as needed
• Collaborating with the Pastor in planning major liturgical celebrations
• Supporting congregational singing and fostering prayerful worship
Candidates should possess:
• A strong understanding of Catholic liturgy and sacred music
• Experience in music ministry and choral leadership
• Good organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with parish staff and volunteers
Piano and/or organ proficiency is preferred but not required.
This is a part-time position averaging 18-24 hours per week. Starting salary $20/hr based on experience. Weddings and funerals are compensated separately by stipend, $200/$125 respectively.
