Job Description
The Benedictine Schools of Richmond are Catholic college preparatory high schools- Benedictine College Preparatory and Saint Gertrude High School-co-located on the 73-acre Benedictine Abbey campus in Richmond, Virginia. For more than 100 years, the schools have offered single-sex education founded on the mutual complementarity of men and women and the equal dignity of all human people. We provide a common Catholic culture, steeped in Benedictine values, that promotes the education of the whole person-body, mind and spirit.The Benedictine Schools of Richmond seek an innovative and collaborative high school teacher to teach Theology at Benedictine College Preparatory. Three years experience is preferred. This is a ten-month teaching position and faculty report to work in mid-August 2025.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Serve as a member of the Theology faculty, teaching courses as assigned
• Implement a curriculum that deepens the students' understanding of Catholic doctrine, scripture, ethics, and the Benedictine tradition
• Foster a classroom environment that encourages respectful dialogue and reflection on faith
• Model and teach essential critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
• Collaborate with other faculty on cross-curricular and cross-disciplinary initiatives
• Differentiate instruction to support and engage a diverse community of learners
• Self-generate resources and assessments for each unit of study
• Utilize the school's student information system to post assignments, units of study, and related course materials to support student self-initiative and self-advocacy
• Assume standard non-curricular responsibilities assigned to all faculty
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred
• Candidate must be a practicing Catholic in good standing
• Teaching experience preferred
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Experience with Google Apps for Education and teaching in a 1:1 environment preferred
