Part-Time Instructor of Latin

General Summary: Chesterton Academy of the Sacred Heart is seeking a part-time instructor of Latin, whose love of the subject material is matched by their love of teaching and forming high school students in the Catholic faith.

Teaching assignments will include up to three courses of Latin, each meeting three days per week, selected from Latin I, II, or III. Part-time faculty members will also maintain at least one office hour per week on campus. The teaching schedule will be coordinated by the headmaster.

Additional courses may be offered across the curriculum, based on the candidate's interests and qualifications.

Many courses at Chesterton Academy of the Sacred Heart are taught in a Socratic-discussion format. The successful candidate must be able to lead a dialectally driven classroom and embrace the integration of subject material throughout the rigorous curriculum. Teachers are expected to demonstrate superior teaching ability, content excellence, adherence to the Chesterton Academy syllabi, classroom management, and promote a joy-filled culture. The part-time Latin instructor reports directly to the headmaster for Chesterton Academy of the Sacred Heart. A collaborative relationship between the teacher and the headmaster is paramount.

Required Qualifications: The candidate must be a practicing Catholic and willing to take the Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church. Candidates ideally have previous teaching experience, demonstrate excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, and possess a track record of contributing to the vision and mission of an apostolic and educational enterprise. A bachelor's degree must be completed by time of hire.
