Job Description
Purpose: The role of Assistant Professor of Psychology is a full-time, tenure-track position in the Psychology Program that is part of the Department of Social Sciences. Responsibilities include teaching twelve credit hours of undergraduate courses per semester. Faculty members at Holy Cross College share responsibility for enhancing the Catholic, Holy Cross learning experience for all students.Essential Job Duties:
Teach a range of undergraduate Psychology courses including, but not limited to:
Introductory Psychology
Research Methods
Personality Psychology
Social Psychology
Clinical courses
Faculty are encouraged to develop innovative possibilities for engaging students in their area of expertise.
Conduct and supervise undergraduate research projects.
Train students in the study and practice of psychology within the context of the Catholic intellectual and social tradition as well as the Catholic-Christian anthropology of the human person.
Advise majors in Psychology, as well as students in the various Psychology Tracks (School Psychology, Neuroscience, and Clinical Psychology)
Be the Faculty advisor for the Psychology Club and assist the Faculty advisor of Psi Chi.
Participate in the life of the College by serving on administrative committees and attending important events, such as Welcome Weekend, Faculty-Staff Convocation, Constitution Day, Honors Convocation, Baccalaureate Mass, and Commencement.
Other responsibilities as assigned to meet the needs of the program, department, or college.
Minimum Education, Skills, and Ability:
Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Psychology. ABD considered.
Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
Previous college or university teaching experience preferred.
Strong appreciation of liberal arts education.
Positive work experience in a Catholic college environment preferred.
