Job Description

Seeking a Director of Liturgy and Sacred Music for St. Mary Parish in Huntley, IL to begin April, 2026.

St. Mary, a parish of nearly 6000 families, has several choirs utilizing different forms of liturgical music ranging from more contemporary hymns to chant schola.

The Director's responsibilities include implementing a vision of sacred music in collaboration with the Pastor; coordinating all weekend liturgies, as well as weddings and the many funeral liturgies; recruiting musicians and cantors to work well with different choir directors; coordinating, scheduling and training for all liturgical ministries including lectors, extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, ushers, altar servers, and sacristans; and purchasing all supplies necessary for liturgy.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced organist and vocalist; be open to facilitating the use of hymnody, Mass proper antiphons, English and Latin chant, and polyphony. Familiarity with the Church's liturgical rubrics and teaching on sacred music are essential, as well as reverence, prayerfulness, evangelical joy and fidelity to the teaching of the Catholic Church.

This is a full-time position. Salary commensurate with experience and ability.
