Coordinator for Children's Catechesis & Family EventsPosition Status: Part-Time (25-29 hours/week | 48 weeks/year)
Reports To: Director of Evangelization
Schedule Flex: Requires occasional evenings and weekends for parish events
Job Summary
St. Paul the Apostle Parish is seeking a welcoming and organized Coordinator for Children's Catechesis and Family Events. This role oversees weekly Faith Formation for grades K-7, coordinates seasonal family events, and provides key administrative and logistical support for sacramental prep and parish-wide evangelization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Children's Faith Formation & Ministry
Program Leadership: Coordinate, schedule, and oversee weekly Faith Formation programs for grades K-7, including support for home-based (Faith @ Home) families.
Volunteer Management: Recruit, train, and support volunteer catechists; prepare weekly lesson materials and handle parent/catechist communications.
VBS & Children's Spaces: Serve as the staff liaison for the summer VBS leadership team and oversee the Little Apostles' Alcove (supplies, children's bulletins, liturgical activities).
2. Family Events & Sacramental Support
Family Engagement: Plan and host parish family gatherings, including Family Adoration & Pizza Parties, Family Stations of the Cross, and the 2nd-Grade Christmas Nativity Play.
Sacramental & Administrative Support: Assist with First Reconciliation/First Communion documentation and event logistics, offer admin support for Confirmation, and assist with RCIC and Special Needs catechesis.
Parish Life: Assist with room setups and logistics for major parish gatherings, retreats, and evangelization events.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
Ministry Heart: Passionate about supporting families, cultivating relationships, and serving in a collaborative parish environment.
Organization & Tech: Strong administrative and communication skills (experience with church management software like Realm is a plus).
Event Logistics: Basic technical competency with A/V equipment and event setup/breakdown.
