Qualifications:
Our Lady of Grace Catholic School is looking for a dedicated Special Education teacher committed to serving the needs of high-functioning autistic students in grades 4-8 and is interested in working in a Catholic environment. Founded in 1953, OLG is committed to honoring the dignity of each child, recognizing and growing their gifts to be intentional disciples and servant leaders.
Join a supportive team where you'll make a real impact by working closely with 10-12 high-functioning autistic students in inclusive classroom settings. You'll collaborate with general education teachers and have the dedicated support of your own teacher assistant.
To be successful in the role, candidates will
Serve as Special Education Teacher for high-functioning autistic students in grades 4-8, working at or above grade-level in at least one core subject (1 to 6 student to teacher ratio).
Serve as Social Skills Teacher, planning lessons according to the Social Thinking framework and the Second Step curriculum
Live out and model Catholic/Christian virtue, worship, beliefs, and lifestyle.
Be optimistic, flexible, patient, and a team player.
Display solid communication skills and have a positive rapport with students, teachers, and parents.
Have a successful history of working with children, teachers, and parents; experience working with students' special education needs is preferred.
Promote our mission by contributing to committees, assisting with student activities, and performing other supporting duties.
Have earned an appropriate undergraduate or graduate degree and NC Teacher certification. (If no NC certification, the candidate must meet diocesan standards for assignment.)
The Teacher must be responsible and proactive as he or she may perform a wide range of tasks in order to support the learning and behavior goals of each student.
Additional Information:
Candidates must have a successful history of working with children in education or a related field. Candidates must provide a resume, cover letter, and three references from supervisors. Candidates must be willing to submit to a criminal background check for employment.
