SMC Part-Time Maintenance Job Description

St. Mary's Church in Denville, NJ is looking for a reliable maintenance worker to perform essential upkeep tasks throughout their facilities. Being dependable and trustworthy is critical. Flexible schedule up to 19 hours per week.
• Perform necessary cleaning activities, such as dusting, vacuuming, mopping, trash removal, grounds litter, etc.
• Complete regular maintenance work (lights, filters, drain inspection, ...)
• Must be able to climb ladders up to 24"
• Snow removal of stairs, landings, and walkways. May require very early morning hours
• Manage and negotiate vendor contracts (HVAC, lawncare, ...)
• Writes Requests for Proposals (RFP) and secure 3 proposals for all major campus related needs
• Perform initial analysis for HVAC, electrical, building, mechanical, plumbing, telephony, and IT. Work with contractors if unable to resolve
• Available 24x7
• Install necessary appliances and equipment as needed
• Establish and maintain campus security procedures
• Perform minor building repairs and construction
• Perform General Contractor (GC) responsibilities during any equipment installation and site enhancements
• Maintains preparedness and safety of parish grounds and facilities following recommendations from Diocese of Paterson bulletin notices

Preferred Requirements
• Proven experience as a maintenance worker or similar positions
• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Very good communication and interpersonal skills
• Must be able to pass a background check
• Ability to create/maintain spreadsheets and presentations
• Driver's license required
• Personal and job-related references required
• Must be able to lift/carry 50 pounds
• Trustworthy
• Timely
