Job Description

Saint Malachy Parish Music Director

Primary Responsibilities:
+ Coordination of parish volunteers in music for various liturgies, including weekend Masses and special (including sacramental) liturgies
+ Coordination of music for funerals and weddings
+ Director of Celebration Choir
+ Manage the copyright reporting requirements to reprint, livestream and record liturgical music
+ Participation in ongoing education and support, such as the National Association of Pastoral Musicians (NPM).
+ Participation in liturgy committee

Possible additional responsibilities:
+ Active recruitment of new musicians of all ages and organization of special choirs
+ Music lessons for aspiring liturgical musicians
+ Additional liturgical coordination
+ Accompaniment for special events
+ Planning of special musical events of an evangelical nature
+ Devising strategies for increasing participation of the congregation in music during Mass
+ Serves as a resource to Faith Formation staff and catechists in selecting music.

Qualifications:
+ Professing, practicing and knowledgeable of the Catholic Faith, or otherwise supportive of Catholic beliefs and practices
+ Commitment to personal growth in faith formation and living as a moral role model
+ Experience, background and knowledge of liturgical celebrations & planning required
+ Degree in music education or music performance or related field
+ Capability to organize, plan and execute events
+ Able to practice effective communication with various volunteers
+ Proficiency with a keyboard instrument and singing
+ Successful background check through State Police and Department of Children and Family Services
+ Completion of Diocesan Safe Environment Training in collaboration with the business manager

General Information:
+ Full time position with benefits
+ Salary: $35,000 - 40,000
