Director of Sacred Music and OrganistOur Lady of the Visitation Church
Divine Mercy Family of Parishes
Cincinnati, Ohio
The Divine Mercy Family of Parishes is seeking a full-time Director of Sacred Music and Organist to lead and continue developing the sacred music program at Our Lady of the Visitation Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. Working collaboratively with the Pastor, Director of Worship, clergy, staff, cantors, choirs, and instrumentalists, the Director will provide musical leadership for the celebration of the Sacred Liturgy and help foster the prayer of the faithful through the rich tradition of Catholic sacred music. The parish's sacred music program is centered on the pipe organ, which serves as the principal instrument for the Church's liturgical celebrations.
Primary Responsibilities
• Direct all aspects of the parish sacred music program.
• Serve as the primary organist for:
o Weekend Masses (Saturday 4:00 p.m. and Sunday 10:00 a.m.)
o Holy Days of Obligation
o Weddings
o Funerals
o First Communion
o Confirmation
o Divine Mercy Sunday
o Other parish liturgical celebrations as assigned.
• Direct the parish adult choir and two school choirs.
• Plan and lead weekly choir rehearsals.
• Recruit, train, schedule, and provide ongoing formation for cantors, accompanists, and instrumentalists.
• Collaborate closely with the Director of Worship in planning music for all liturgical celebrations.
• Work with the Director of Worship to plan Sunday liturgies, Holy Days, and other special liturgical celebrations throughout the year.
• Coordinate music for weddings and funerals.
• Oversee the parish Sacred Music Concert Series.
• Maintain the parish music library and provide recommendations regarding hymnals and other music resources.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will:
• Hold a bachelor's degree in music, sacred music, organ performance, choral conducting, or a related field (preferred).
• Demonstrate proficiency in organ performance and choral conducting.
• Possess a strong knowledge of Catholic liturgy.
• Have experience directing choirs and working with volunteer musicians.
• Demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Be committed to supporting the mission of the Catholic Church through the ministry of sacred music.
