SUMMARY: This position is responsible for teaching Euclidean Geometry, Algebra 1, Algebra II and Pre-Calculus. A classical mathematics instructor approaches each subject with respect and wonder. In fact, the primary goal of the instructor is to cultivate a sense of wonder in the student.
Our classical curriculum employs a methodology which teaches primarily through a mode of questioning rather than lecturing. Furthermore, it teaches alongside the great thinkers within each subject, making present their discovery within the classroom. As a result, math is not taught as separate disciplines but are integrated with philosophy, literature, and language of history's greatest thinkers; thus, an ideal candidate is someone who loves their subject and can see it analogically in relation to the intellectual tradition of the West.
REQUIREMENTS:
1) Must be a committed Christian who is a member in good standing in a Christian church (Catholic Preferred).
2) Must be wholeheartedly committed taking an oath of fidelity to the school's statement of faith.
3) Must have a thorough understanding and support of the classical Christian approach to education as adopted by the Chesterton School's Network.
4) Must relate to students by loving them with the love of Christ, encouraging them to developa relationship with God through Christ, treating them with the dignity due them as creatures made in the image of God, and challenging them to serve God with all their heart, mind, and soul
5) Must maintain high standards of personal, spiritual, and professional conduct• Must be committed to professional growth; including reading, coursework, and seminar attendance
6) Must be able to enthusiastically and competently implement the Chesterton curriculum
7) Must be able to skillfully manage a classroom of varying academic skills and learning styles
8) Must be able to promote and manage a high level of parental involvement
9) Must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree from a college or university; need not havet eacher certification, though it is desirable.
EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university, though a Master's Degree is preferred.
Ideal candidates for the position bring at least two years of experience in teaching in an upper school classroom.
PEDAGOGICAL TRAINING:
CAWF understands that not many people have a background in classical training; thus, we provide in-house pedagogical training for all employees. This training consists in quarterly colloquia where the faculty read a work from the classical tradition and discuss it for the sake of leisure. Faculty will have an intensive 4 week training before school begins which encompasses training in lesson planning, classroom management, and in classical modes of instruction. The Headmaster will also regularly meet with faculty to help them hone their skills in the classroom.

Criminal background check required for hire.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS and DIRECTION/GUIDANCE:
Chesterton Faculty will be under the direct supervision of the Headmaster. The employee will receive a yearly job review and performance appraisal.
