Job Description
Director of Campus MinistryI. Position Purpose
The Director of Campus Ministry should be prepared to oversee all aspects of evangelization and formation within the center and campus outreach. They should be focused on bringing about the mission which is: to be a light on the hill that fosters an atmosphere of healing, purpose, and hope through Jesus Christ to WSU students.
They will work alongside and collaborate with The Missionaries of St. Thomas, staff and missionaries in building a missional community on campus on beyond helping form students to become missionary disciples. Applicants must be able to take this mission on and promote it on campus. Through this mission, the Director of Campus Ministry should be involved with the Student Intern team and assist the Director in their ongoing operations.
We are looking for someone to help us launch our own missionary team, who is excited to be a part of The Missionaries of St. Thomas on WSU campus.
II. Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assist the Chaplain in achieving yearly and strategic goals for the ministry.
2. Supervise our Student Intern Team
- Students who manage our social media, website, and digital communications and assist with center operations and campus ministry events.
3. Planning campus ministry events and activities
-Conduct strategic planning for ministry events with the student intern team.
-Evaluate success and growth opportunities post-campus ministry events.
-Events include but are not limited to: bi-weekly Damascus and Men's and Women's nights, Fall and Spring Retreats, community events, and bible study groups.
4. Lead a two-week summer mission trip for students.
5. Empower students to take ownership of their faith.
-Train students to be able to lead bible studies, teach OCIA classes, and plan events.
6. Work with Student Interns to implement new and creative aspects of the ministry.
-Supervise student interns responsible for center operations and campus ministry.
7.Be involved in Sunday Liturgy
8. Oversee formation for all students in OCIA and sacramental preparation classes.
III. Qualifications:
- Baccalaureate degree or higher in Theology or Pastoral Care.
- Be a practicing Catholic in good standing.
- 3+ years working in the missionary field and overseeing other missionaries, staff and volunteers.
- Experience teaching catechesis (OCIA classes or religious education classes)
- Feel comfortable engaging in Charismatic prayer and praise and worship.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools and social media platforms.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, campus environment; flexible, able to work autonomously as well as take direction as needed.
- Excellent delegation skills
