Job Description

POSITION TITLE: Director of Development
REPORTS TO: Executive Administrator of Operations
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Full Time, Exempt

SUMMARY: The Director of Development provides leadership for the planning, direction, coordination and evaluation of the Congregational Development Program, ensuring it reflects the spirit, values, and charism of the Sisters of Saint Joseph. This role serves as a relational presence and as a representative of the Congregation, fostering connections rooted in unity, respect, and mutual commitment. Through a spirit of shared mission, he/she invites financial support of the present and future life and ministries of the Sisters of Saint Joseph and their sponsored works.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Commit to and integrate the mission/vision of the Sisters of Saint Joseph
• Identify, cultivate, and steward donors
• Collaborate with staff to support the planning, implementation, and stewardship of annual fundraising appeals that benefit the Sisters of Saint Joseph and their Sponsored Ministries
• Collaborate with staff on the development and design of all department print and digital appeals, ensuring consistency with the mission, voice, and spirit of the Sisters of Saint Joseph
• Guide the development and ongoing care of donor recognition and appreciation programs, honoring generosity with gratitude and respect
• Prepare annual Development Budget and the Annual Report
• Collaborate with the Finance Office to ensure proper financial controls and accurate, timely reporting of funds
• Coordinate with Finance Office on fiscal year-end reporting
• Coordinate the development and design of all department marketing and event materials, as well as the Annual Report layout
• Coordinate the preparation of Development Office content for One With magazine, the Development Office webpages on the Congregation's public site and the design of the Annual Report
• Meet with the Executive Administrator of Finance, Executive Administrator of Sponsorship, Sponsorship Office staff, and Sponsored Ministry Directors to discern priorities, develop targeted fundraising strategies, and coordinate approaches to department generated appeals
• Collaborate with Congregational Leadership and the Executive Administrator for Operations to thoughtfully plan multiyear Development priorities that reflect the mission and evolving needs of the Congregation
• Supervise the Development office, procedures and staff which includes the selection, supervision and evaluation of staff members
• Ensure compliance with the Code of Ethics (Association of Professional Fundraisers) and Congregational internal policies and procedures
• Periodically review and update the Office of Development Process Handbook and General Information, Gift Acceptance Policy, and Events Procedures and Policy Handbook
• Represent the Office of Development at Philadelphia Regional Development meetings
• Maintain professional memberships and participate in ongoing education to stay current in the field of Development

Education:
• Bachelor's degree (minimum)
• Current CFRE certificate preferred

Requirements:
• A deep understanding of Catholicism and consecrated religious life
• 3-5 years experience with CRM software; DonorPerfect preferred
• Possess a valid driver's license

Experience:
• Minimum of five years development experience in a leadership role
