Job Description
Coeur du Christ Academy, a coeducational classical high school in the Catholic tradition, is seeking to fill an advanced teaching position for the Fall of 2026. Coeur du Christ Academy is located in beautiful Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. The Academy serves grades 9-12 and is completing its fourth year.As the Academy grows, multiple faculty positions are open for applicants of various specialties, including Mathematics, Natural Science, Latin, Humanities, and Theology.
The ideal candidate is a faithful Catholic, formed well in the Catholic tradition, with experience teaching in the classical high school setting. Nonetheless, Coeur du Christ is far from typical in many ways. The Academy seeks to offer a distinctive formation of students into Saints, Scholars, and Servants with Christ at the heart of everything we do. Coeur du Christ is poised to grow our faculty to serve more students and meet the high demand for excellent Catholic and classical education in North Idaho. Candidates with expertise in the perennial western philosophy, Catholic Theology, the arts of the trivium (spoken and written) and quadrivium, history, literature, and/or the natural sciences would be preferred. The ideal candidate has an integrated familiarity of all these disciplines.
A Teacher's primary responsibilities will be to lead classes, seminars, and coursework, to mentor students both in faith and subject matter, and by word and deed to guide students to know, love, and serve God.
The articulated responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Managing 4 preps (lesson planning, grading, tracking, and reporting to the Headmaster). Specific courses depend in part on the strengths of the candidate and in part on the needs of the Academy.
- Attending all necessary faculty meetings and parent meetings.
Attending daily mass with students and colleagues on Wednesdays and Fridays.
- Utilizing the student information system (ClassReach) in a timely manner, while showing strong, professional communication skills with leadership, families, colleagues, and students.
Highly qualified Applicants should demonstrate:
- a self starter mentality with a good work ethic and attention to detail
- a proven sense of servant leadership and selfless service to every student's learning
- a strong sense of discretion and strong moral character
- a proven ability to inspire and form students,
- a desire to build a strong academy culture,
- both interest and mastery regarding the classical liberal arts tradition of education (though interest is superior to mastery) and the art of teaching, and
- An unquenchable zeal for the Catholic faith.
Applicants should also:
- Be Roman Catholic.
- Pledge fidelity to the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church.
- Hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree.
- Relevant experience teaching, especially in a classical secondary education environment, is preferred.
- Commit to assisting with select extracurricular activities such as clubs, sports, and pilgrimages, as assigned.
- Be able to complete Safe Environment training and successfully complete background check requirements.
- Adhere to the Teacher Commitment and Faculty Handbook, to Teach as Jesus Taught.
