Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE: To serve as campus nurse part time in the University Health Clinic.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Campus Nurse:

Serve as campus nurse, holding office hours, maintaining appointments and follow up with physician.
Maintain HIPPA compliant charts and record keeping for all clinical visits and interactions.
Serves on the University Behavioral Intervention team.
Serves on Medical withdrawal appeals committee.
Collects, evaluates, documents, and follows up on all information and communications pertaining to student cases and/or referrals and maintains appropriate release of information for students both in and out of a clinical setting.
Facilitate non-clinical interactions with students in distress and/or navigating crisis situations through care and support.
Maintain university health clinic and ensure all needed supplies are in stock and replaced prior to expiration when applicable.
File and maintain back-charts after completed and signed, as well as paper and electronic records of ROIs, Waivers, Referrals, Screenings, Contacts, etc.
Assist with patient referrals for telehealth, imaging, lab work, specialists, or for urgent or emergency care.
Respond to on campus medical emergencies when called, and act appropriately to serve student needs.
Serve as on-call medical personnel for athletic events as needed.
Maintain appropriate continuing education to keep up to date license and certifications.
Establish/ maintain protocol for students requesting excused absences from academics or athletics.
Keep clinic statistical data in HIPPA compliant manner for board reports and other data collection.
Assist in creation of health and safety response protocols for seizures, anxiety attacks, etc.
Maintain nurse email account and phone lines and follow-up as needed with questions, comments, and requests. Provide assistance as needed with over-the-phone or email needs.
EDUCATION: Must be a registered nurse (RN) with Florida license or ability to attain a Florida license prior to start date

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 2 years' experience, 3-5 years' experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Must have experience with maintaining detailed HIPPA compliance charts

Understanding of clinical nursing practices and crisis intervention

Ability to work with physicians in making diagnosis and referrals

Exceptional time management and organization skills

Strong oral and written communication skills

Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and under supervision.

Willingness to serve, and build relationships with the troupe

Must possess strong initiative, leadership skills, organizational and project management skills, with the ability to multitask to manage a variety of projects and priorities, coordinating the actions of others, follow through on projects to timely completion, and demonstrate excellent judgment with attention to detail.

Microsoft Office experience with Word, Outlook, Publisher, Excel, Power Point software experience.

Must support the University's Catholic mission.

PHYSICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Requires ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; the ability to stand, walk and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10 - 20 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, type and perform data entry, visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read technical information, ability to hear in order to answer telephones and to communicate verbally, and the ability to sit for extended periods of time.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed indoors with minimal safety hazards, and requires seated, standing, and movement work.
