Job Description
Job Summary:Catholic Charities of Southwest Kansas is seeking a dedicated Thrift Store Manager to oversee operations at our Golden Harvest Thrift Store in Great Bend, KS. This full-time, exempt position is integral to our mission of serving the community while generating revenue to support our charitable programs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage daily operations of the thrift store including sales, inventory, and customer service
• Supervise and coordinate volunteer activities and staff schedules
• Oversee merchandise receiving, pricing, sorting, and display
• Maintain store appearance, cleanliness, and organization
• Handle cash management, deposits, and daily financial reporting
• Develop and implement strategies to increase sales and community engagement
• Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and organizational policies
• Build relationships with donors and community partners
• Assist with special events and promotional activities
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience in retail management
• Minimum 2-3 years of retail or management experience
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
• Proficiency in basic computer applications and point-of-sale systems
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Commitment to Catholic Charities' mission and values
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in nonprofit or thrift store operations
• Bilingual capabilities (English/Spanish)
• Volunteer management experience
• Knowledge of retail merchandising best practices
Working Conditions:
• Full-time position requiring occasional evenings and weekends
• Physical demands include lifting, standing, and moving merchandise
• Work environment includes interaction with diverse community members
• Occasional travel to other locations may be required
