Job Summary
John Paul II Catholic School is seeking a dedicated teacher to serve as our full-time Middle School English teacher. The teacher will establish a faith-filled environment, demonstrated knowledge of content, facilitate learning for all students following prescribed curriculum, model Gospel values, be a contributing member of a professional learning community, and participate in all required duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities
• Demonstrates knowledge and commitment to the mission of John Paul II Catholic School to support that mission in the daily work with students, parent, faculty, and staff.
• Instill in students a love for Literature and the English language.
• Open students' hearts, minds, and souls to all that is good, beautiful, and true through the
• teaching of Literature/English.
• Use creative and varied pedagogical techniques to create a fun, ordered, and fruitful learning environment.
• Work collaboratively with the instructional leader and members of the middle school team to leverage best practices and build a passion for literature at the school.
• Participate in other co-curricular activities.
• Serve as a faculty mentor to one of JPII's House Groups.
• Be ready to support the mission of the school with other duties as assigned.
• And naturally, prepare lesson plans; take attendance; give assignments and tests; grade student participation and performance; discipline students; and meet with students and parents as needed to discuss any issues
• Perform other duties as assigned by the President and Principal.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's in English Literature and BA Certification or equivalent (preferred);
• Minimum of two years' experience teaching Literature/English at the middle school level preferred.
• Proven ability to manage a classroom of 20+ students.
• Skilled at developing and delivering lesson plans that engage students and lead to high
• academic achievement.
• Passionate about forming intentional disciples of Jesus Christ
