Job Description

Managing Editor - Digital Content
St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology

About us:
The St. Paul Center is a nonprofit research and educational institute that brings people into a deeper knowledge and love of Christ through Scripture and Doctrine. Our goal is to raise up a generation of priests who are biblically fluent and laity that are biblically literate.

Background:
The St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology has been faithfully following the lead of Dr. Scott Hahn for 25 years, bringing the transformative power of Sacred Scripture to clergy, scholars, and laypeople alike through a variety of programs and initiatives, including events (priest conferences, parish missions, and conferences), popular books (via Emmaus Road Publishing), scholarly works (via Emmaus Academic Press) and digital content (through the Journey Through Scripture Bible studies & the St. Paul Center online learning platform).
We are seeking a Copyeditor & Content Manager to lead scripting and editing of all our digital content, and to manage and lead theologian presenters in preparing their material for new course content. Reporting to the Director of Content and Production, you'll be responsible for leading the development of the scripted, theological content behind our courses, from discussion guides to content scripts, and managing numerous theologian presenters as they progress through the development of new course content prior to recording in our studio. Furthermore, you'll partner with the Director of Production to lead regular research and learning into content and topic trends and be the voice of the viewer in ensuring the materials we make are edifying, spiritually enriching and engaging.

What You'll Do:
• Lead scripting and editing for internal productions; you are the consistent voice of St. Paul Center Content. From our flagship Journey Through Scripture Bible Studies, to internally developed courses, to our seasonal Advent and Lent materials - you'll be responsible for taking the content strategy and developing the various ideas therein into production-ready scripts.
• Coordinate contractors and jr. copywriters in the development of supplemental materials. Magnify your impact by training, developing and coordinating external contractors and student workers on specific tasks, such as study guides for courses
• Define the process and format for external speakers to draft great course materials and guide speakers through it - on time and on target.
o A well-built script and outline dramatically accelerates production and editing. Build a process and defined templates to ensure new speakers deliver on time with a script that is ready to use.
o Be the liaison between the ST. Paul Center and contracted theologian presenters, guiding them through this process on time and while building relationships.
• Represent the needs of our members by ensuring our content is theologically faithful, spiritually enriching, and beautifully engaging. Conduct regular research to understand what types of content and courses our users are seeking and use insight from that research to guide content planning decisions.

What We're Looking For:
• A practicing Catholic on fire for their faith and with a love of Scripture
• A college degree with a focus either in theology, Scripture & Catechetics, or in writing & editing
o An advanced Degree (e.g. MA Theology or PhD) is preferred
• Strong writing and editing skills - a writing sample will be required of qualified candidates.
• Highly organized and collaborative - able to build process and procedures, and lead others to stick to them
• Experience working with presenters, scholars or subject matter experts

What We Offer:
• Faithful commitment to Catholic teaching - We exist not to take a side or sow division, but to share the powerful truths of the Faith with the world.
• An apostolic ethos to impact the world - we seek in everything we do to make an impact; to reach the full depth and breadth of the Body of Christ. You'll report to the Director of Production and be a critical part of our digital outreach.
• An entrepreneurial spirit - the St. Paul Center has grown 10-fold in the past decade, and we are constantly seeking new ideas, experiments and solutions to advance our mission. You'll be part of that growth with an opportunity to have tremendous impact and to advance your career.
