Reports to: Business ManagerStatus: Full-time (30-40 hours), non-exempt, benefits eligible
I. SUMMARY OF JOB POSITION
The maintenance technician is responsible for maintaining the entirety of the physical plant of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, including the Outreach Ministries Campus. The maintenance technician is to assure cleanliness of the grounds and spaces, to provide adequate maintenance and preventive maintenance on all equipment, buildings, and grounds to ensure safety to all persons, including parishioners, staff, and visitors, and to extend the life and appearance of these items.
II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties include but are not limited to the following:
• Maintains the cleanliness of the Church Building, Parish Office, St. Basil Hall, Heyck Hall, St. Thomas Food Pantry, Aquinas Store, St. Bernadette Building and other parish spaces as needed.
• Removes trash from all trash cans, including in offices, the cafe, and outside trash cans, and trash found on the ground around the campus.
• Help with a variety of installation, repair and renovation to buildings including but not limited to electrical fixtures and switches, and semi-skilled tasks in construction, repair, and maintenance of wooden, brick structures and items.
• Installation, repair, and renovation of some equipment including metal and wood equipment, electrical appliances, valves, gas stoves, hot water heaters, sinks, commodes, hand basins, kitchen appliances, heating and cooling systems, sewer lines, and other fixtures.
• Rough painting and rough concrete laying/patching and patch plastering.
• Moving and transporting furniture and misc. items from buildings.
• Maintains daily maintenance logs and reports time to be kept in the parish office.
• Other duties as assigned.
III. EDUCATION & SKILLS
• Minimum high school diploma required
• Technical Skills
• Ability to troubleshoot and apply diagnostic skills with the ability relevant to use voltmeters, ammeters, temperature, and pressure gauges for finding the cause of equipment/hardware failures and performing relevant repairs.
• Ability to make soldering and plumbing repairs.
• Ability to accomplish a wide variety of tasks related to institutional construction and remodeling work including but not limited to interior partitions, ceilings, doors and hardware, outdoor walks, stairs, furniture, and other projects.
• Ability to read prints, sketches, and other documents to compile a list of materials.
• Work Experience - Minimum of three years of experience and general working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry principles and their application to the preventive maintenance, repair, and installation of building electrical, lighting, plumbing, mechanical, hardware, roofing systems and furniture.
• Must be current in Safe Haven training or must obtain confirmation that the training has been successfully completed within 30 days of their hire date.
• Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents. Ability to write agenda, reports, correspondence, education, and training material.
• Reasoning Ability- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Physical Demands - The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job. This employee is occasionally required to stand; walk use hands to fingers, handle, or feel, reach with hand and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
• Must be willing to work some evenings and weekends if needed.
