General Responsibilities:
The Catholic Retrievers Catholic Campus Ministry at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County is a Christ-led community that joyfully welcomes, evangelizes, and serves the University community to form lifelong relationships with Jesus Christ and His Church as witnesses of God's love.

The Campus Minister ensures the various aspects of ministering to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County are carried out. The people served primarily include UMBC students (especially the Catholics), to some extent the administration, faculty, and staff as well as alumni and parents from the University. The Campus Minister will work closely with the Chaplain and Campus Ministry Assistant as well as student leadership. The Campus Minister will work alongside and report directly to the Chaplain for implementing the vision and mission of the UMBC Catholic Retrievers (Catholic Campus Ministry).

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), exempt, professional ministry position. Night and weekend work is necessary primarily during the academic year. The Campus Minister will be asked to spend 50% of his or her time on operations of the campus ministry (organizing calendar, booking speakers, planning retreats, etc.) in conjunction with the Chaplain. The remaining 50% will be more direct ministry (work with the Campus Ministry Assistant and student leaders, leading men's or women's groups, giving talks, events on campus, and community service).

The position requires work in person, principally on the campus of UMBC and might require travel for such things as service projects, pilgrimages, campus minister meetings and Archdiocesan events. The Director will work with the Archdiocese of Baltimore's Institute for Evangelization and be the liaison with other Campus Ministries in Baltimore and beyond.

Essential Functions:
-- Encourage and form students to authentically practice their Catholic faith on campus.
-- Help the develop, implement, and direct a comprehensive campus ministry program by:
-- Leading and modeling a regular life of prayer and sacraments: especially attending daily Mass as often as possible and regular confession.
-- Facilitating community building, through Sunday Suppers, etc.
Teaching students about their individual call to apostolic mission and how to live that out on campus and in the community through personal witness and faith formation opportunities..
-- Assisting the Chaplain in the content and running of fall and spring retreats.
-- Cultivating and maintaining visible and proactive collaboration and communication with the university students, administration, staff, and faculty.

Foster Catholic-Christian Leadership by:
-- Facilitating conversations and opportunities for discernment of gifts and how all involved in campus ministry can use those gifts to build up the Church.
-- Building, growing, and mentoring a student leadership team to facilitate the use of their gifts to enhance the ministry.
Creating and facilitating annual leadership team retreats prior to each semester.
-- Meeting weekly with the student officers and monthly with the student leadership team to offer formation as well as plan, implement, and evaluate ministry activity.

Cultivate missionary discipleship by:
-- Creating an environment for liturgies (regardless of location) that helps facilitate engagement with the sacred mysteries.
Building and growing an active and vibrant liturgical ministry (lectors, extraordinary ministers of holy communion, greeters, and music ministry) on campus.
-- Building and growing a service and justice ministry with activities, outreach, and formation grounded in Catholic Social Teaching.
Planning, coordinating, and leading an annual mission trip and pilgrimage.

Promote the orderly and smooth running of the UMBC Catholic Retrievers Catholic Campus Ministry by:
-- Managing the calendar.
-- Coordinating communications to promote our campus ministry on campus.
-- Maintain the general upkeep of the Campus Ministry supplies.

Build relationships with the pastor and ministry team at St. Mark Catholic Church in Catonsville to identify opportunities for collaboration and cultivate support.

Position Qualifications:
-- A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree, preferably but not necessarily in a field related to theology or pastoral ministry.
-- Prior experience in a leadership role in pastoral work; preferably campus ministry
-- Fully initiated and practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church with a strong working knowledge of and enthusiasm for the Catholic faith.
-- Ability and desire to reach out to students and young adults to invite them to a personal encounter with Christ and to walk with them on their faith journey.
-- Well organized, self-motivated, detail oriented, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
-- Ability to manage finances and good stewardship by managing and maintaining a budget.
-- Willingness to fundraise & engage with donors.
-- Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
-- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
-- Good working knowledge of social media, technology, MS Office software, Google applications and sports management software
