Job Description

The Director of Faith Formation at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish provides vision, leadership, and coordination for the parish's catechetical and evangelization efforts focused on families. This role promotes lifelong faith formation by equipping parents/guardians as primary educators of their children in the Catholic faith to foster a vibrant culture of discipleship and the ongoing spiritual growth of the parish community. Full Time Position with a salary of $42,000 to $55,000 based on years of experience and education. (Pro-rate for part-time approx. 20-25 hours per week.)

Position Overview
Leadership & Vision
• Demonstrates an ability to lead with faith, wisdom, and clarity in order to inspire catechists, students, and families in the shared mission of Catholic education.
Program Development & Coordination
• Oversee religious education programs for children, including sacramental preparation (First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, Confirmation) by fostering Catholic culture, identity, and encounters with Jesus Christ.
• Provides access and inclusion for children with learning needs.
• Coordinates with parish staff to implement and ensure that all catechist and volunteers follow the Office of Children and Youth Protection policies.
• Coordinates with the Diocesan Faith Formation office.
• Helps to develop seasonal events (Advent, Lent), retreats, and service opportunities.
Parent/Guardian Engagement & Support
• Fosters meaningful relationships with families and supports parents/guardians as primary catechists through workshops, resources, and encourages their active participation in parish life.
Catechist Recruitment & Formation
• Recruits, trains, and mentors catechists and aides as needed in their educational development, and evaluates their effectiveness in the classroom by periodically visiting and observing.
• Provides or schedules VIRTUS training for all catechists, aides, staff, and volunteers.
• Provides ongoing spiritual and professional development opportunities and secures the resources needed.
Sacramental Preparation
• Coordinates all aspects of sacramental preparation (First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, and Confirmation) in collaboration with clergy.
Administration
• Manages all program registration, scheduling, and communications.
• Maintains accurate sacramental and participation records.
• Develops and oversees program budget.
The Director of Faith Formation reports to the Pastor.

Collaboration
• Creates a relationship with the Principal, teachers, and staff of the parish school, particularly in the Sacramental field.
• Works closely with Youth Ministry, OCIA, and other parish ministries.
Qualifications
• Enjoys a deep personal relationship with Christ through the Catholic Church
• Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with a commitment to Church teachings.
• Actively participates in the liturgical and sacramental life of the church.
• Bachelor's degree in theology, religious education, pastoral ministry, or related field (Master's preferred).
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience preferred in parish ministry, faith formation, or teaching.
• Demonstrates enthusiasm, patience, and a missionary zeal as a witness to Christ in all aspects of life.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in digital tools for communication and program management.
Work Environment
• Evening and weekend hours required.
• Office and parish-based work, with occasional off-site events.
• Interaction with children, families, and volunteers in a pastoral setting.
