Job Description

General Summary of the Position

The Parish Communications & Engagement Coordinator supports the work of the Director of Community Life by strategically leveraging the parish's media tools in order to foster personal connection with members, visitors, and outsiders alike. Through an intentional and mission-oriented use of email, social media, the parish's website, in-person events, and the bulletin, the Parish Communications & Engagement Coordinator helps draw individuals into more meaningful participation within the parish, where they can find a supportive Christian community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position

The Parish Communications & Engagement Coordinator will:

-> Manage Branding and Strategy

--Maintain consistent parish brand

--Implement communications plan as developed by senior staff and approved by the Pastor

--Suggest changes and developments to plan as role evolves

--Expand communications to include more photography, videography, and other untapped media

--Articulate, enable, and enforce communication deadlines

-> Produce Weekly Bulletin

-Design weekly bulletin, keeping a consistent format and brand

-Receive and discern bulletin requests from staff, parish ministries, and outside entities

-Incorporate priest messages, liturgy music and readings, prayer intentions

-Work with printing company when necessary, adjusting deadlines to accommodate for holiday demands

-> Update CTK Website

--Maintain accurate and relevant information

--Update with current parish events and engagement opportunities

--Employ Search Engine Optimization

--Work with engineers where necessary on technical needs

-> Manage Flocknote and other E-mail Communications

-> Manage Social Media

--Manage CTK's presence on Instagram, Facebook, and other social media platforms

-> Serve as Communications Liaison to Parish Ministries

--Orient Ministry Leaders to available communication channels and how to leverage them for parish engagement

--Gather materials from ministry leaders to share on communications channels

-> Event & Program Support as Assigned by Supervisor

-Set up and break down

-Manage hospitality elements

-Coordinate volunteers

-Communicate with caterers, staff, and others

Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Practicing Catholic

Well-organized, strategic thinker, clear communicator

Understands the unique challenges and opportunities of working in a church

Expresses well-formed opinions

Accepts instruction and good-faith correction

Works as a team player

Is comfortable interacting with volunteers and guests

Maintains strict confidentiality in all matters

Possesses technological savvy: ability to work quickly on a computer, to learn new technological programs, and to accurately manage lists and databases

Produces creative content (photo, video, graphics, writing, etc.)

Familiar with marketing and communications principles

Education and Experience:

College degree, preferred

1-2 years of relevant professional experience is preferred

Ministry experience preferred

Open to professional growth

Physical Requirements Specific to the Job:

Needs to be mobile and able to lift occasional supplies.

Needs to be able to perform all physical requirements of moving to various locations, taking photographs, performing perfunctory office tasks.

Needs to be able to perform auditory, visual, and physical functions necessary for communications.

Special Requirements:

On campus during normal work hours as arranged with supervisor

On campus for events, programs, and liturgies as assigned and in consultation with senior staff as arranged with supervisor.
