Position/Title: Business Manager

Department: Parish Administration

Reports to: Pastor

Date: June 24, 2025

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Type: Full Time

General Summary of the Position

The Bussiness Manager partners with the Pastor to ensure the parish's health and vitality, today and in the future. The Business Manager uses business and administrative skills to ensure that the parish is run efficiently and is a good steward of our finances. This role is performed with a service first approach, building a positive culture among the staff while humbly serving the parish community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position

Act as a trusted advisor for the Pastor on administrative, strategic, personnel, and financial issues

Provide monthly reporting to Parish leadership including financial performance and trends in key performance measures for the Church and the School

Review budgets for Christ the King Church and School and oversee accounting firm on financial matters and investment decisions

Collect, analyze, and present parishioner data to support fundraising efforts, inform needs for new ministries and programs, target programs and support to parishioners based on need, and support the Pastor and ministry leaders

Transform processes, tools, and programs to improve the parishioner experience, increase staff productivity, and ensure compliance. This includes monitoring the implementation and performance of existing Framing Our Future initiatives and working with the staff to identify and lead the next set of opportunities

Assist Pastor with strategic planning for the parish, including the implementation and enhancement of the parishioner lifecycle plan, communications plan, facilities plan, and other planning activities

Lead the project to convert our parishioner database to a modern version that integrates parishioner contributions with their engagement in ministries and events. Manage ongoing database quality, assist staff with data needs, and support parishioners with their profiles

Represent Christ the King (with the accounting firm) at Diocese business manager meetings and manage Diocese data requests

Attend governance meetings and provide ad hoc support to the Church Finance Committee

Lead monthly staff meeting for Christ the King and prepare meeting minutes

Assist contractor with select HR activities including onboarding and exits

Supervise the facilities functions for the parish, including planning and operations

Supervise the Church Secretary and help oversee the administrative functions for the parish

Engage actively in parish ministries and community

Execute other responsibilities as assigned by the Pastor of Christ the King

Perform all functions pastorally with a focus on service to Christ and his followers

Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Seasoned leader with broad business skills

Excellent communication and consulting skills

Works collaboratively as a team player

Strong interpersonal and pastoral skills

Innovative thinker that drives positive change

Strong working knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel, and Word

Project management and team leadership experience

Experience mentoring and developing people

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in all matters

Education and Experience:

Ten years of experience in business leadership role

Undergraduate business degree or MBA preferred
